Study Thai In Khon Kaen

Featured Replies

Anyone know of a school to learn Thai in Khon Kaen city?

If it is one of the ED visa schools great, but I do not require an ED visa - it could work out cheaper paying for an intensive year long course with ED visa than paying individually for hourly lessons.

Thanks in advance.

I don't have an answer to your specific question, but another suggestion since you're not looking for the visa side of things. And assuming you're serious about your learning program and have materials and methodologies already in place, all you need is a native speaker for coaching and correction. I define serious as average 2-3 hours per day myself, YMMV.

Look for an academic program teaching Thais about the Thai language - the home-grown version of Thai language teacher training, applied linguistics etc.

Talk to the professors (sic) asking them to recommend students with very clear "pak glang" pronunciation, put up "help wanted" notices in Thai in the student cafeteria, have motocy guys pass out leaflets for you etc.

For B5,000 - 10,000 per month, depending on how many hours per month you require and the schedule, could conceivably get you a full-time person if you also have other PA-type needs.

Trying to get that level of intensity from a commercial school would be much more expensive, and you would have to meet their schedule rather than the other way around.

Just a suggestion.

PS you also get to meet some very nice girls during the interviewing process, much higher quality than you'd meet in the normal course of most people's lives here, and your location is ideal, apparently the centre of low-end tertiary training/education for all of Isaan, many many of my ex-teelacs spent their first years away from home studying there.
