i couldnt have put the comments of the last person better my self.

time and money is all it will take to get the visa and a hel_l of alot of heart ache and upset in the process!!!

my views i have already expressed and to be be fair it was as much my fault for my wife not getting her visa first time . but i do help but wonder now after reading your posts the the interpretor my wife had didnt tell the eco every thing. as my wife now is very very upset and is not looking forward to say the least for her second interview. she said she told them every thing and they still not believe her ,she now thinking and i can not blame her for it that they wont listen and they have made there minds up. what gets me is yes i know they have a job to do and they have to follow the rules, but if they keep seeing the same applicants coming back time and time again that must say they are genuine people i would have thought.

i wonder if it will make any diffrence when they out source the visa section t o a private company.

why they dont have if what people say here is correct excellent interprators i just dont know and is very worrying indeed . :o best of luck mate

It is the processing of applications that will be outsourced, i.e. the clerical side. All decisions will still be made by the ECOs as at present.

I have refrained from commenting on the OP's refusal as I have not seen the actual refusal notice. Scouse has, so he is best placed to advise (and no doubt is doing so via PM). However, whilst I am convinced that the ECOs generally do a good job and make the correct decisions, they are only human and so do make mistakes. Genuine applicants are sometimes refused. Sometimes, like jvc600, it is because they have omitted vital evidence. Sometimes it is purely down to human error. I know this is no consolation if it is your application that has been refused wrongly, and anyone in that position has my sympathy.

Silomfan, has your boyfriend collected his CP visa yet?

I would have to admit that the ECOs are doing a good job in what must be a very diifficult job to do. They are human, so mistakes will be made, thus why we have the right to appeal. But there does appear to be a hit and miss nature to applications. But how else would they be able to do it? Scoring system? I must admit that just interviewing one person in the relationship for settlement visas is a bit funny but I guess its down to logistical reasons they don't interview both...just thinking out loud here.

I haven't posted the refusal letter on the forum as I think this would make it too easy for anyone from the embassy to work out who I am. But if anyone wants to see it (if you are that interested) then PM me and I will see about sending you a copy.

I will say this we sent the embassy an email asking for the interview notes to be sent to us - and we got a reply within 24 hours - which I must admit I am WELL IMPRESSED with that - as last time I emailed them I got a reply after 2 weeks (understandable as they must get piles of emails to wade through).

Once I have the notes I can make a better judgement on what was going on during the interview - but one example I will give from talking with my gf is this - they asked her what we do together - in the refusal letter it says "make visa" and that's it - now I know my gf didn't just say that as she told them we go to the cinema, go out to restaurants, etc.

This has all started to make me paranoid - if they don't mention the other stuff in the notes it will make me wonder what the translator was upto. But there's begger all that can be done about it as far as I can see.

It's a case of head down appeal, see what happens, if the appeal gets turned down then it's get out there, marry her and then talk her into re-applying as the whole experience has put her off the British Embassy.

One thing my Nigerian mate said to me (Lagos being well known as a visa hotspot and a place where people really do try it on make a fraudelent claims regularly) is that the people that really aren't above board i.e. 419 fraud merchants - tend to make sure they have everything down pat, and all the paperwork, answers to every conceivable question all ready to real off.

I will point out just in case anyone wasn't sure - that I am well biased in this case!

Just a thought,

With modern technology being cheap and wonderful would it not be possible to arm the lady with an audio recorder of some type so that you would then have a real record of what actually went down.

And yes the interpretors do take things out of context!

And banning farang from the embassy seems to indicate things are getting worse not better!

Greg -

Yes I thought about that after the fact - but until I got refused I had never heard about the translators being naff, I just assumed that good old brit embassy would be hiring people that knew what they were doing. I bet if you were to slap a tape recorder on the table though - you would at the very least REALLY annoy the ECO!

I just got the interview notes - I am stunned. The main factor on the refusal in my mind was us not having set a date for marriage - which she actually told them we are getting married in FEB (which I think I said we would try for having thought about it), but we didn't provide evidence (and to my knowledge and a lot of peoples comments - hardly anyone does provide evidence either).

The next thing the brought up on the interview is - she don't know me that well - but from the notes - they didn't really ask her that much specific - i.e. what's my fav food, what movies I like etc.

Another thing I will say is that the notes are not particularly well written considering it's a govenrment doc - i.e. u instead of you.

Wow really you get the notes from the interview that quick?

Can someone please tell me how to apply for the notes via email how do they know its not just anyone asking for them?

many thanks

If the applicant lives near enough to Bangkok, they can go and collect the interview notes in person. Failing that, an e-mail from the applicant should suffice. Unless the embassy has reason to doubt that the e-mail is authentic, they should forward the interview notes by return e-mail.

Scouse.
