Firefox Bookmarks All Gone

10 years of accumulated and sorted bookmarks have just disappeared..............sick.gif

I went to add a new bookmark and found all the old ones had disappeared.

Recovery using FEBE did not work. For some reason the bookmarks were not being backed up!

Surely that should be a default in the settings?

Fortunately a while back I used Mozbackup and the file was still accessible

so I was able to recover most of my bookmarks, but it was scary.

Now I come to the question of why they were lost?

A couple of weeks ago I loaded Chrome, and it gave me an option to import bookmarks.

I would have expected it to copy them, but perhaps it took over, and renamed the folder?

I didn't like Chrome and deleted it, and maybe my bookmarks went at the same time.

As soon as I have time I will repeat the procedure and see if it can be replicated.

Sorry to hear that, I hope you can recover them. And when you do, install Xmarks and back up your bookmarks to an independant server, means you always have access to your bookmarks from any machine anywhere.

Every so often (when I remember) I export my Firefox contacks list and save them on my PC so that if necessary I can import them back again.

I have just looked at the folder and I saved them in 2005, 2007, 2008 and 2912.

Memo to self.

Do backups every month or 2 weeks.
