webfact Posted June 1, 2012 Share Posted June 1, 2012 Thai man jailed in Taiwan for kissing woman TAIPEI, June 1, 2012 (AFP) - A Thai man was sentenced Friday to seven months in prison for forcefully kissing a Taiwanese woman and licking her face in a northern Taiwan city. The man was convicted on obscenity charges as the act, which took place in New Taipei city in February, was carried out against the woman's wishes, said the Banciao district court. According to the court, he grabbed the woman while she was jogging at night in a stadium. When they fell down as she resisted, he forcefully kissed and licked her until passers-by heard her screams and intervened. People came to her aid and had to intervene to get her free from his grasp. That is quite significant. He should be charged and if convicted, do his time, and then be placed on a computerized "sexual offender" list that all countries have access to. The GF and I were backed into a doorway avoiding the crush of people and watching the show. This chick was standing next to us and she would grab guys going by in the crush of people on Bourbon St. She would give then a big wet kiss, then drag them into a doorway, drop down to her knees and get busy. Once she finished the guy off and sent him on his way, she would grab someone else and repeat the process. The GF and I were amused as after living there for a while nothing shocks you. Yunla Posted June 2, 2012 Share Posted June 2, 2012 (edited) Respecting peoples boundaries and treating women as equals is not always understood, it is a failure of parenting & education imo. Like most things it comes down to education & cultural change which is always very slow gradual osmosis from other cultures, media, and philosophy which are absorbed very slowly. Much of Asia is interesting in that it has centuries-old traditions of respecting ladies boundaries, for example not touching a woman even on the shoulder, in public, unless you are related or married to her. Despite that women are second-class across much of Asia and patriarchy is dominant. There is no reason to behave like dashing gents who lay their coat down in a puddle for a lady to walk across, but to have been educated on respecting personal boundaries & a lady's dignity is something that should be taught at home and at school. This particular story seems like basic sexual assault, which would get a fine for first time offenders in many countries. He may have got a custodial sentence to set an example to future vistors to Taiwan to behave with more decorum around ladies.
