I hear of another round of bar closures next weekend due to the elections. Another weekend of fun and frolics done away with by the looks of it. So maybe you will want to plan a weekend away?

I am very surprised that the incumbent Mayor of Pattaya, (Khun Ittipol), is enforcing this law. Surely it would be better for him if everybody was pissed when they vote, given his record over the past four years! Think he is missing a trick here.

But that's just the point.

All those that have no voting rights in Thailand will be sober cos of the bar closures,but the natives will be pissed as usual.

I read somewhere recently that there are only 200,000 'ish registered local voters and I can guarantee that none of them are in any of the bars that I'll be in next weekend!!
