webfact
Yingluck not confirm, deny speculation she would become defence minister BANGKOK: -- Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra declined to deny or confirm speculation that she would concurrently hold the position of defence minister in the next Cabinet reshuffle. She said she would give priority to the meeting of the national water resources and disaster policy committee than talking about a Cabinet reshuffle. She smiled back to reporters without saying anything when asked if she would concurrently hold the defence portfolio. -- The Nation 2012-06-

Popular Post Yunla
Defense minister could be her future job when her brother is PM again later this year. Or if defense minister seems a bit like hard work for Yingluck, how about 'marzipan minister', in charge of testing marzipan for its sweetness. Or maybe 'fluffy rabbit minister', in executive control of a room full of cute little floppsys. Obviously she would need a pay rise for those positions.

webfact
POLITICS Defence minister says he would not object to his removal The Nation Sukampol BANGKOK: -- Defence Minister ACM Sukampol Suwannathat said on Monday that he would not mind if he were to be removed from the Cabinet. Speaking to a programme on Spring News satellite TV, Sukampol said it was up to the prime minister whether to remove him from the Cabinet or not. Sukampol was commenting on speculation that he would be removed because he has failed to respond to the government's policies in seeking tighter control of the armed forces. "I have no problem about it no matter what the speculation says. Any Cabinet reshuffle depends on the prime minister. There will be no turmoil because of the reshuffle," Sukampol said. But Sukampol denied that he had failed to respond to the government policies. He said he had been carrying out his responsibilities to the best of his abilities after receiving orders and policies from the prime minister. Sukampol said he sometimes reported on his work to the PM's secretary-general. "I have always carried out all the orders given to me," Sukampol added. He said he would like to know who raised the allegations that he refused to respond to the government's policies. Sukampol added that he is confident that no coup will be staged. -- The Nation 2012-06-

Still living in denial Sir?Any cabinet reshuffle depends on the man in Dubai, and not the prime minister, and yes there is a big chance that there will be turmoil in the very near future. I guess Yingluck indicated that already when she visited parliament being escorted by the terrorist unit of the army
ratcatcher
AFAIK Ms Yingluck has been sitting on de fence since she became P.M., not making her own decisions, but taking discreet orders from the coward in Dubai. Perhaps ACM Sukampol is being done a favor by this move. Edited June 11, 2012 by ratcatcher
MunterHunter
c'mon guys, its pretty much a given that she will take over the defence portfolio very soon... as the man in Dubai will need someone who cant answer a question, cries on demand and never shows upto work when he orders the military onto the streets to break up protests against him.... Dontcha all see it yet? She's only PM so he can pull the strings from Dubai.

I do not claim to be an expert on Thai politics in relation to the military - but I did marry into a Thai military family, and from what I understand it is not a given that ordering the military onto the streets against the protesters would work this time...there are many factions at work and even if Mr T were to return and take over the Prime Ministership, it is not sure that he would be reqarded as legitimate - or his orders. Buchholz
Defence minister says he would not object to his removal Sukampol BANGKOK: -- Defence Minister ACM Sukampol Suwannathat said on Monday that he would not mind if he were to be removed from the Cabinet. Sukampol was commenting on speculation that he would be removed because he has failed to respond to the government's policies in seeking tighter control of the armed forces. I think he's looking at being removed because someone in Dubai doesn't have a sense of humor... Said last week in the face of closer Thai-American relations... He claimed that the former Prime Minister can enter the US any time he wants. Surely, this was the Air Chief Marshall's facial expression while making the joke above. ginjag
The P.M. would be more suited to TAT this tourist authority needs a high profile figurehead at the helm. Because TAT is concentrating on the high end of the tourist segment, here she is ready made. Shopping malls, cosmetics, perfumes, all the photo sessions to be had, advertising the tourist sex trade, scams, corruption, but most of all knowledge of top hotels ?? The dodge from work would not matter, the lady would have all the free time she would want. Computor work not English language would be essential, getting her head round all those stats-Lies(a lot of them) you need to tell a few untruths in this job.
