Yahoo! and CNBC announce alliance to expand reach < br />

SUNNYVALE, CALIFORNIA (BNO NEWS) -- Internet giant Yahoo! and U.S. business news channel CNBC on Wednesday announced a new partnership which aims to expand the channel's online reach and provide a broadcast platform for the internet giant.

According to both parties, they will have a combined and unduplicated online audience of more than 40 million people in the U.S. each month and share Yahoo! Finance's content with the nearly 100 million households that CNBC reaches in the country, in addition to the viewers watching in out-of-home locations.

The partnership makes CNBC the premier content provider for Yahoo! Finance in the U.S., as greater access to CNBC.com's stories and videos will be made across the Yahoo! network. In addition, Yahoo! and CNBC will jointly produce a slate of original videos, which are expected to premiere this fall, to be prominently featured on Yahoo! Finance and CNBC.com as well as being promoted on CNBC.

The two companies also said that their sales organizations will come together to provide advertising solutions across their platforms. However, each company will maintain editorial control and host their respective sites, according to a statement released on early Wednesday.

Yahoo! Interim CEO Ross Levinsohn said their mission is to create "the richest and most powerful experiences" for their users. "Partnering with CNBC will allow Yahoo! Finance to expand its offerings instantly and enhance its position as the most viewed and utilized finance site in the world," Levinsohn said.

Meanwhile, CNBC President and CEO Mark Hoffman said that the alliance will allow it to provide real-time news, analysis and information to a larger audience and offer unmatched advertising solutions for marketers looking for access across multiple platforms. CNBC is shown on trading floors, in hotels, country clubs, fitness centers and restaurants across the United States.
