Democrats at fault for trying to usurp power: Anusorn

The Nation

BANGKOK: -- The Democrat Party refused to accept the Pheu Thai election victory and tried to usurp power, government deputy spokesman Anusorn Eiamsaard said on Wednesday.

"The prevailing situation is like all opponents are colluding to trample and overthrow the elected governement despite its landslide mandate," he said.

Anusorn alleged that the Democrats were working in concerted efforts with the anti-government movement in order to grab power.

The latest incident which the Election Commission had disqualifed Pheu Thai MP Karun Hosakul was proof of an on-going offensive against the government, he said.

The other incidents included the judicial decision to strip Jatuporn Promphan of his Pheu Thai MP status, the judicial intervention to launch an inquiry into charter change and the surprice decision on the long-forgetten Alpine scandal paving way to prosecute Deputy Prime Minister Yongyuth Wichaidit, he said.

He also voiced suspicion about the timing of public prosecutors to try former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra in connection with the Krung Thai Bank's Bt9 billion lending transactions.

"I believe we are witnessing a game of toppling the government," he said, arguing that the opposition's eventual target was to dislodge the prime minister.

He called for the ruling party and government to map out a joint strategy for counter-attack.

I have a sneaky feeling that The Pheu Thai Party would be doing exactly the same, and maybe more, if they were in opposition. It's called dirty politics and is S.O.P.

However, it does appear that the Dems are scraping the barrel, but apparently said barrel needs scraping.

Replace the word "Democrats" with the word "PTP" and it accurately describes the few years leading upto the last general election... If the Democrats were not doing what they are being accused of, i would claim 'double standards' :)

Change the record please this talk of toppling governments is getting old. The is a difference between holding people accountable for their actions and a power grab. What amazes me is the despite knowing full well that being MPs they are constantly going to be under scrutiny , the MPS on both sides of the political divide make rash decisions of gargantuan proportions and they start complaining when asked to explain themselves. Perhaps PTP should be more strict in its qualifications for party membership.

PTP is determined to push for thaksins return, the opposition is just as determined that it not happen. I wonder if we would be seeing this if Thaksin would back off, let the government do the job they were elected to do, and possibly win the next election. Never going to happen though.

When you consider the apparent lack of credentials, experience, and moral fiber of a goodly number of the ruling government, why would you expect a long service time. Dishornorable discharges for some, General for most, with a few Honorable would be a start to cleaning up the stench associated with this group.

Spin meister for the PM,

or

Government deputy spokesman

or

Mouth piece for the political party.

Or 'all three at once'.

Never mind that this is 100% about party politics, and not the government, the official "Government deputy spokesman" still gets to blur the lines of separation. Does Nopadom write his scripts for him?

Successfully working in opposition is suddenly Usurping Power.

This is spin of a low and wobbly sort.

Talk about calling the pot black.

"Anusorn alleged that the Democrats were working in concerted efforts with the anti-government movement in order to grab power."

You are right the PT would be doing every thing they could to stop the Dem's from trying to improve Thailand. Look back to what they did in 2010 with their military arm dressed in red and black shirts.

To be fair, k. Anusorn only alleged, which makes his other remarks just as interesting wink.png

I certainly can't speak for Thailand, but this is the way it works in the U.S.A.

The US politicians dress up their deals in the language of the law or policy - but they are really dispensing tax revenue. What keeps these guys in office isn't their oratory skills but their skill at doling out the spoils of office to their friends, patrons, and lastly, their constituents. They push the buttons and pull the levers like so many gamblers in a slot machine casino.

The PTP did not say anything about the former government, they has the RED SHIRTS. OH! how sturpid of me the RED SHIRTS are part of the PTP. Is this the same as the BROWN SHIRTS in Natzi Germany?
