I have not done a Mae Sai visa run for over a year & wondered if anyone knew if the Thai Immigration Office (the one about 1km before the bridge) is open on a Sunday. I do not want to make a trip & hang around if for any reason it is shut.

I have never bought spirits in Burma - is it worth the hassle?

Thanks.

PS I checked for the answer via Search but could not find anything relevant.

The Mae Sai immigrations office is open Sundays if you are merely looking to get stamped out. Anything more complicated than that I'm pretty sure is a no-go. Just to be safe though, you should give them a call.

Making a call first is the best way to make sure - remember that the border situation has a knack for changing very quickly. If this happens, the border will close, as it has done on a number of previous occasions in the past.

They are supposed to be open on Sundays, and indeed were so, on the one time I was there on a Sunday (three months ago - today is Feb 2, 2004).

But no state is permanent except for impermanence, as Sid used to say.
