My girlfriend is buying a new vehicle for us. Yeas, I know lucky me until she can't make the note...seriously though, I am running into a wall with the Land Transport Office.

I am here on a Retirement Extension of a Non-O VIsa, 7 years now. I told the g/f she could have my truck as the down payment for our new vehicle. LTO is refusing to allow the sale of my personal assets. They say I need a work permit. Help me out here. Can I get away with a letter from my Embassy?

Is this a local small town Dept of Land and Transport?

Try talking to someone higher up. Point out you bought on a retirement visa and hopefully they will see the logic of selling on one.

Failing that go to DLT in nearest city and explain your problem they should be able to help either by doing the transfer or speaking directly to your local office.
