Hi

I would like to setup a DM800 HD to use with the vinasat1 satellite but am not to sure of the settings are these the correct settings for the use of this satellite.

Frequency 11048

Symbol rate 28799

LOf/L 09750

LOF/H 10600

I am not sure about the threshold setting?

Is it right that the LNB should be put at the 8 0 clock position?

Symbol rate and frequency depends on the channel you want to watch.

check http://www.lyngsat.com/Vinasat-1.html it has evera information you will ever need.

it has an azimtuth and elevation section on the page, so you should know where to point your dish. fine tuning is up to you. check the site carefully, for me it has the following information:

Azimuth & elevation in Si Racha, Thailand: 110.7° & 51.1°

As to LNB threshold setting, try 11,700.

As to the eight o'clock position (skew adjustment)? It would be helpful to go here;

And, look at the values.

Positioned in front of the dish, turning the LNB to the right causes a negative skew angle. Conversely, turning to the left is a positive value. And, this is with the LNB coax connector pointed down to start.

Looks like the skew angle in Bangkok fro example would be about -65 degrees. The LNB coax connector at about eight o'clock would give you a skew angle of -60 degrees. So, very close. You can then tweak the setting.

The 11048 K+ transponder is strong. But, would suggest toggling through some of the other transponders while you are tuning.

Uhm when my wife called your shop a couple of days ago the lady working there had no idea what Vinesat (or Vinsat) was. She said there was no way we could receive TV from Vietnam even though your website advertises Vinsat.

I suggest you make sure your staff are well informed.

Sorry but we ended up finding a new supplier for ourselves and other members of the family living around Bangkok.

Our staff are 100% correct in what they told your wife. We do not sell any Vietnamese based PayTVnetworks at all, as shown on this link http://jsat.tv/packs.html - no Vietnamese PayTV packages listed there.

I can only assume you were NOT on the http://www.jsat.tv web pages at all when you read that we did Vietnamese PayTV networks, or got confused.

Yes indeed our http://thaisatellite.tv/forum/index.html forum does indeed have posts from every satellite we see here in Thailand including Vinsat and new Free To air / Free to View channels on it so our move dish users and other (like on TV here) can see what is new in our Thai skies. Click on this link and simply select the satellite of your choice http://thaisatellite.tv/forum/index.html . Seems the forum has been going for years now you would expect it to have been yahoo/bing/google bot'ed during this period, thus the number of hits.

Yes we did used to have a Vietnamese C Band service not the Ku Band PayTV service as mentioned above in the previous post (free to view TV) listed but due to lack of interest we removed it from the;

a long time ago - but it seems it is still on the satellite list as you rightly pointed out - http://www.jsat.tv/satellite2.html

A lot less than the programming you can get on TrueVisions and not as much sport, especially EPL football at weekends.

The same channels as TrueVisions also gets criticised for showing old repeated movies continually (even though they are not resposible for the content).

Also some of the programming is dubbed in Chinese or Vietnamese.

Great if you wife is Vietnamese though as she can keep up with all the soaps (which are the same Korean or Chinese ones you get in Thailand but dubbed into Vietnamese) and news.

The difference you mention is nothing compared to the price. I pay a fraction of what TRUE charges. I have no complaints. I also get Astro included in my package.

I can only view 1 channel at a time. And the dish moves to what channel I want to watch....

The two Vietnamese packages you mention are simply two different paytv companies transmitting on the same satellite.

Regarding the lnb, what type of dish you have? The small solid ones always are ku band.

Do note that there are 2 different types of ku lnb's commonly used here, truevisions uses a lnb with a l.o. of 11300 Mhz, whereas for most other providers you would need a universal ku lnb (l.o. 9750 and 10600 Mhz) to receive all transponders ...

Yes i do have a small red paited dish, but i am almost sure to have an universale lnb !

Just saw that the VTC have irdeto 2 - and K+ is viaccess encrypted ! Astro is Mediaguard 2 Videoguard encrypted!

Mr. Jayman is watching both - so what do you recommend ? Astro or Vinsat ? And - is it possible to get the signal with my smal dish from the south of thailand ?

Being in the South you are lucky as you can get Astro with.a small dish.

Astro definitely has the better content.
