Mystery man involved in near-drowning on Pattaya Beach

PATTAYA:--A man whose name and nationality is currently unknown was involved in a near-drowning incident on Pattaya Beach in the early hours of Saturday.

Passers-by reported seeing the body of the man floating face-down in the water opposite the Royal Garden Plaza at the southern end of Pattaya Beach and went to pull him out of the water. White foam was coming from his mouth but he was still alive and was rushed to Hospital where he currently remains in a critical condition.

The man was seen earlier and was reportedly sleeping on the beach and used a bag full of clothes as a pillow. Inside the bag was a Thai Security Shirt although Police suspect the victim is not Thai and may be of Middle-Eastern descent, although this has yet to be confirmed. He was seen walking into the water fully-clothed and soon got into difficulties. Some at the scene suggested he may be intoxicated
