Hello all,

My wife will be applying for a UK settlement visa this year and i would like to know where in BKK she can take the a1 English test that can be used for the UK settlement visa.I heard there is only a few that are approved by the uk border agency and dont want her to get a certificate from one that that is not included in their approved list.Anyone who has experience in this or has taken the test and prices of the test would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

From UK Settlement Visa Basics

Visa Plus also posted earlier in that topic

I have now received further clarification from the British Embassy in Bangkok............

...........Just to clarify, the list of test providers in Thailand changed from 18th July and we currently have the following test centres in Thailand:

PEARSON Pearson Professional Center Bangkok Business Building Level 10, Unit 10-10 54, Thanon Sukhumvit Soi 21, Bangkok Thailand, 10110

TOEIC Center for Professional Assessment - Bangkok Suite 1907, Bangkok Business Building 54 Asoke Road, Sukhumvit 21 Bangkok 10110 Thailand +66 (0) 2260 7061 +66 (0) 22664 3122 Center for Professional Assessment - Chiang Mai Nawarat Building 3rd Floor Kaeo Nawarat Soi 3 Amphur Muang Chiangmai 50000 Thailand

BULATS Vantage Siam Co. Ltd. 65/213 Chamnan Phenjati Building, 25th Floor, Rama 9 Road, Huay Kwang, Bangkok. 10310

That was posted in August 2011, so may not be up to date.

I cannot understand why the UKBA in Thailand do not provide a list of test providers in Thailand and expects applicants to search through the full list.

My GF just did her BULATS test at Vantage Siam.

They moved. There in the same building, but have moved to the 2nd floor. The manager there said they doubled their testing capactiy so they could take late "walk-in" bookings. The can be reached at 02-245-3632.

It would be a good idea to find out what is involved in the exam, the format and the type of questions, then do lots of practice questions. My partner found this invaluable when she did the TOEIC test. It meant she knew what they examiners are looking for in answers, what would get her extra marks (a large, black dog, rather than simply a dog when describing a picture) etc.

I believe BULATS have a mock test on their website.

For the TOEIC exam we bought a studybook and found lots of exam questions on the internet.
