Medical Benefits For Thai Wife And Her Son In Australia....

Featured Replies

Ok heres the story....A friend of mine(yes a friend not me) his fiancee is travelling to Australia on a 300fiancee visa and her son is coming also. What happens in regard to medical? The Australian immigration website says they may be entitled to Medicare once here but will be once married. This is a bit of a crappy explanation cause its not entirely true. They arent at all on the 300fiancee visa and once married are only after they submit the next visa which is the partner visa. So really Aust Immigration are just guessing that Medicare will be no probs. BS.

Should they, I mean the Thai fiancee and her son get travel insurance before leaving? And which company is recommended?

Should my friend get private health for them here in Australia? Is that even possible not being aussie citizens?

They plan to get married on dec 12 this year, but the tg and son get here on aug15, but I think he may be better off getting married asap just for the Medicare deal. Her son is 13 and I know what it was like at that age, bike accidents, sick etc etc...always at the dr's or dentists.

Some ideas would be muchly appreciated!!....Thanks guys!

This may be of help to your friend. I used their visitor insurance, for my step daughter when she visited for 3 months, last March.

Can get quotes on line.
