Domestic Air Freight, Bangkok-Chiang Mai, Cost & Conditions

Dear Fellow members,

I will be flying into Bangkok International Airport soon, and would then need to find a way to get to Chiang Mai on the same day with all the extra luggage which is not going to be the easiest, but I am coming to stay for a while.

I will be bringing along some extra luggage as air freight, so I would need to re-submit them as air freight from Bangkok to Chiang Mai once I arrive.

I have checked out the following links on info for air freight, and have also emailed them with my questions, but I am afraid I may have only a small chance of reply given the length and complexity of my email to them possibly due to English language barrier at the local customer service ( which I hope will not be so ) and also I am rather pressed for time and by the time I get a reply it might be a bit too late considering the upcoming travel dates.

I would consider a taxi from the airport to the train station to use the train travel option, but hauling around a few pieces of luggage alone ( possibly 4 pieces, plus a carry-on... not sure yet ) might be rather difficult and not worth the try, so I am considering air freight at this point, and the flight option for myself for expediency.

Or should I taxi over to the train station and use the train freight services ? How complicated would that be upon arrival at what I read to be a very busy and large train station ?... would the train be a better option ??

Any suggestions on the best way to send my extra luggage by Air Freight from the international airport in Bangkok to the airport in Chiang Mai ? or any other options that would be feasible for one person travelling around with a few pieces of luggage ? ... train, bus, etc, would be rather complicated, no ?? ... and a car rental may not be a wise option since this will be my first trip to Thailand and getting behind the wheel for a long drive could be rather risky.

1 - Can I use air freight services from any domestic airline ?

2 - How much would that cost for personal effects per Kilo ?( I see that some rates per kilo drop as weights increase )

3 - How long before the flight do I have to take my luggage to their office at the airport ?

4 - Do I have to have a domestic flight ticket from that specific airline ( or any other airline ) to use air freight service from a given company ?

5 - Can I send my luggage by air freight, but travel by bus or train or just walk wink.png to Chiang Mai ?

6 - Are there any other extra charges ?

7- Would the train or bus and their freight services ( extra luggage service ) be a better option ??

What to do ! what to do ! ...

knowing the above facts would be crucial and really help in my travel planning as far as accompanying luggage.
