Car, Ferries And South Thailand

Featured Replies

Hi everyone.

I'm planning a little journey in the south of Thailand (like Bangkok to Surat Thani).

I prefer to rent a car for this, but this is my problem.

I need a ferries company that offer the car transport service to come back, from the south (like Surat Thani, Don Sak or Koh Samui)

to the centre (like Hua-Hin, Bangkok or a city near there) because I don't have too much time to come back "on the road".

Someone knows a company, that offer a service like that?

Thank's for all replies!!

Unless you can get a lift on a vehicle transporter you are out of luck why not fly to Suratthani or Samui and hire a car would be just as cheap than driving all the way from bangkok and then paying ferry charges

Got to agree Fly to/from Surat and rent a car at the airport, I think Avis now have a desk there at the airport before it was in Surat town

Gasoline Bkk- Donsak will cost min around 4,000 baht each way (that is in a jazz etc) cant remember exactly but I do remember filling up 3 times

FYI: if your tank is low fill up at the Gas station just before the ferry as Gasoline on Samui is more expensive some places 5 baht a ltr more...not much i know but it all adds to the costs.

Ferry crossing at the moment is low season fare

youre not very clear about it, but I understand you want to ask IF there is a ferry running island-direct to HuaHin. Answer is short; NO there is not one and there never has been and like;ly never ever will be. Ferrying in the seas BTW is much slower as riding on roads. Take a sleeper in the train and gain time-sleep while otherwise tiresome driving.
