Chemical Tanker fire causes chaos on major highway in Chonburi District

CHONBURI:--The emergency services were called into action on Monday afternoon to deal with a tanker fire close to the entrance of the Bang Na-Trat Expressway in Chonburi District.

The fire caused major traffic congestion but Police opted not to close the road after it was determined the tanker, which normally carries Sodium Hydroxide, was in fact empty and on it’s way to Bangkok to be refilled.

The driver of the truck, Khun Monsit, who works for the CL Jalernsup Transport Company from Samut Prakhan Province, explained that the front right-hand wheel blew which somehow led to a fire which engulfed the undercarriage of the tanker.
