How about The War on Drugs and The Tak Bae massacre , they could also be investigated, but suppose that might implicate The DL.

What was wrong with the war on drugs?Thaksin did the right thing,Yeah sorry a few innocent people died, but most who died probably deserved to die,I'm happy for any drug baron or drug dealer who died at that time, unfortunately thaksin had to stop,if not thailand might be drug free by now,tak bae is and was an army thing, the army handles the south the way they want to handle it,they don't listen to any government in bkk,

You must live in cloud cuckoo land, and if the south was an Army thing, then why are the Reds going after Abhasit regarding Army actions?

You must be blinded by the <deleted> that comes from DL and his mob.

Blinded by the <deleted> :P Great Manfred Mann song

From the ICC site on current activities. Emphasize on 'African' affairs it seems. No mention of Thailand, but looking at the list of countries in which situations are under investigation, seeing Thailand wouldn't be something to boost about:

"16 cases in 7 situations have been brought before the International Criminal Court.

Pursuant to the Rome Statute, the Prosecutor can initiate an investigation on the basis of a referral from any State Party or from the United Nations Security Council. In addition, the Prosecutor can initiate investigations proprio motu on the basis of information on crimes within the jurisdiction of the Court received from individuals or organisations ("communications").

...

The OTP is currently conducting preliminary examinations in a number of situations including Afghanistan, Georgia, Guinea, Colombia, Honduras, Korea and Nigeria.

Shame on this Red Leader who is revealing his true colors. A one of case. No need to say more.

This from a doctor of medicine who led the invasion of a hospital full of sick people looking for people who were never there.

Obviously a man of principles and born to lead.

While we're at it with the ICC having been asked to investigate a possible breach of certain International Laws by k. Abhisit, may we also ask the ICC to look into this affront to justice?

"At a news conference in Quito on Wednesday, Ecuador Foreign Minister Ricardo Patino said a letter from the UK government was delivered through a British embassy official.

"Today we received from the United Kingdom an express threat, in writing, that they might storm our Embassy in London if we don't hand over Julian Assange," he said.

"Ecuador rejects in the most emphatic terms the explicit threat of the British official communication.""

The reds are furious that the judiciary has not bowed down to the red agenda. So this announcement is an attempted slap at the judiciary, the army and the government for not delivering.

The announcement is everything and just a piece of propaganda. The intention of implementation absolutely zero. The small print is membership of the ICC, not a pick-and-mix exercise.

Don't expect anything to come of this. The last thing the reds would want is the ICC following up any leads on the black shirts prowling around in 2010 or the money trail.

You need to understand UK law regards diplomatic premises and their obligations what is being proposed by HMG is perfectly legal i.e.

The UK Foreign Office says it can lift the embassy's diplomatic status to fulfil a "legal obligation" to extradite the 41-year-old.

On 30 April, more than 200 Red-Shirt protesters[93] forced their way into Chulalongkorn Hospital, which is near to the main protest site, searching for soldiers whom the protesters thought were hiding there. Hospital management had denied that troops were on its site. No soldiers were found after an hour of searching.[93] Following the incident, hospital staff moved approximately 600 patients to other facilities farther from the protest site. UDD leader Weng Tojirakarn, himself a medical doctor, apologized for the storming, calling it "inappropriate" and "unreasonable".

I'm just wondering since when "apologized for the storming, calling it "inappropriate" and "unreasonable"." is considered a condemnation?

"UDD core leader Weng Tojirakarn said the Red Shirts will officially apologise the hospital, saying that they had never ordered a search at the hospital.

He admitted that the move was not appropriate and offered to facilitate the hospital and promised that no search would occur again."

"On behalf of all leaders, I apologise to the public and Chulalongkorn Hospital for the incident," Weng Tojirakarn said. "The situation got out of control. It is not our policy to obstruct hospital operations."

Reuters:

"We have told them it was an inappropriate move. We truly apologize for any inconvenience caused. Some were very concerned the hospital was harboring troops," Weng Tojirakarn told Reuters.

no, he just apologized for an incident that distressed many patients and was inexcusable.

Unlike what you stated, which was that he led the invasion...

You knew already that he had apologized, but could not resist the cheap dig, could you?

Although about wenging, I have to confirm that Dr. weng didn't lead the hospital invasion. Dr. weng only apologised, or as some have is 'condemned' the action.

"A group of anti-government 'Red Shirt' United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) led by one of the leader Payap Panket stormed Chulalongkorn Hospital Thursday night, searching for 'hidden' troops after receiving information that 200-300 military personnel on hospital premises preparing to disperse the protesters."

I do 'apologise', but answering that question would lead us too far from the OP of Dr. weng calling for recognition of ICC jurisdiction, one-off that is wink.png

The ICC may also want to consider how many innocent passers-by were subjected to grenade fire from within the red protest camp.... and how that aggression was stirred up by the rally speeches: could end up being an own-goal when studied by impartial outsiders!

A few of my well known spelling and grammar were supposed to be edited out..only,

My clumsy fingers are way to big for single keyboard actions and play havok with my posts..... apologies to those who are un effected in their typing skills.

It should follow after government... officials have been made accountable or held responsible in any shape or form for these murders.

The reds request will / should have to wait their turn while the earlier requests are investigated / completed not take preference as though they never existed or indeed occured.

Nor were any of the victims or their families offered the same levels of compensation as the red shirts have by the same government now in power, if any. ( all be it under one of several party banners they have previously come under to enable them continuity after being banned, in this case Aka TRT but with the Shinwatara,s at the helm and in this case the ghost PM was here in the flesh. )

Thaksin at the time when a request for HR recognition and investigations were lodged made it very clear that it was a Thailand affair and no one outside had any right to interfere let alone be granted permission to enter the country to investigate / find out the truth.

Now it seems that once again hyprocritical support has been seemingly approved for his UDD @#^%@*^&%$ and their supporters.

I base this on the lack of comment stating otherwise and it now appears via their silence that the HRW has indeed got a right and permission to investigate this proposed lodging of the debated request.

If it still follows it has not, the government should have made it clear the request was not welcome.

One off they craftily add into the wording, that,s really rubbing arrogant insensitivity into the still heartbreaking loss of life they suffered and the additional effects it will have on these families, how evil and selfish, self important the likes of Weng and his followers are.

Still sad.png and annoyed.gif even after all this time and it will never be erased from not only my memories but most importantly the records of the HRW ect. ect. and media achives around the world.

marshbags mellow.png

P.S. If as may happen the ICC and HRW are said not to be the same or similar, both investigate criminality and offences against humanity as a consequence.

The poster before you would seem to imply that it is not enough for the UDD to issue an apology for the hospital incident as was done, but that other UDD members need to apologize or else it some how doesn't "count".

That could be considered a ridiculous point of view.

But then it all is off topic and these comments simply began as a correction to Moruya's misstatement claiming Weng was actually leading the search in the hospital when in fact he issued the apology for it.

This tells you what kind of people that are running this nation at present.

We win, you lose, or else, and we protect our own no matter what they did to anyone.

But noting the lengths they go to to protect their bullyboys, the idea of signing the ICC compact,

and letting the ICC at their workerbees, and their potential testimonies, is a non-starter.

Come on, Tom. You can do better than that. It started when you replied to Morura that "weng condemned the hospital incident." as in "apologies, inappropriate" and "unreasonable" (post #38). Only later came up that Pheu Thai party list MP and UDD leader Payap led the peaceful protesters (#42 vaguely, #45 explicitly).
