Red-Shirt Leader Weng Calls For Recognition Of I.C.C. Jurisdiction

The poster before you would seem to imply that it is not enough for the UDD to issue an apology for the hospital incident as was done, but that other UDD members need to apologize or else it some how doesn't "count".

That could be considered a ridiculous point of view.

But then it all is off topic and these comments simply began as a correction to Moruya's misstatement claiming Weng was actually leading the search in the hospital when in fact he issued the apology for it.

"The UDD" didn't apologise. One red shirt leader did. Others said the raid was justified.

Sent from my HTC phone.

No matter how many members of the UDD / red shirts apologise, no matter who apologises, it will never ever make it right for the detestation and contemp it has openly shown towards their fellow Thai and also of course foreigners what they are all about.

To enter the hospital and spread fear among not only the patients and their doctors ect. and staff, but also many who had relatives and friends of the afore mentioned and had to watch it unfolding on the TV live, it must have been horrifying.

The patients, many with very serious illnesses ect. some in life threatening situations, totally ignored and further put in a worsening state along with their doctors and carers unable to give them the full care and attention they need, by their actions.

It is by the way, one of multitude of incidents that have taken place and all the while getting the shameless open support from the PT government who really are and have shown themselves to be their true, self rewarding, self only, DGAD about Thailand unless it is beneficial to themselves, and continually exploit their fellow Thai throughout the kingdom.

Thaksin is the destroyer of all that is good in human kind, that is unless you are his family or no brain idiots who he continually uses to further his cause and do his dirty work / bidding.

Everyone one else is inconsequestial.

Evil to the core IMO and needs to be put in isolation and stopped before he destroys the country.

This subject is not off topic by the way as it is about red shirts by courteousy of their leader ( one of, acting on behalf of Thaksin of course, along with all his coherts / ilk. ) who provided the news headline to the subject matter that surely invites comments pertaining to the actions leading up to it.

Seems to me those who keep mentioning off topic come under the you either post what we like to hear or don,t post at all.

Typical UDD / red shirt phylosophy and attitude.

  • Idiot. Cannot have one off I.C.C. recognition to hear a case. In addition picking a case where you could be found to have more sinned than been sinned against is not the best move.

  • Are you being serious?

Just caught up in the excitement of the moment?

Honest mistake?

Forgot his hypocratic oath?

Wise after the event?

With hindsight, your honour.....

Thai doctors do not take or are subject to the Hippocratic Oath. An oath of hypocracy is something different. This medical doctor is apparently an OAF.

My apologies to Hippocrates for the spelling. I had assumed that was something to do with transporting horses.

Those are hypercrates, of course. coffee1.gif

Weng and his intelligence-challenged buddies should take a few minutes to study the type of cases the ICC deals with. If he did, he would find the Tak Bai and Kru Sae massacres and/or the drug war extrajudicial killings (all under Thaksin's CEO rulership) are exactly what the ICC deals with. His current beef is off the mark by a country mile.

Dont forget that the Redshirts raided 2 hospitals, no one has apologised for the first. Or any other breach of international humanitarian law.................

10th April 2010: Red Shirt protestors stormed Thailand Television station. On the same day, the government clashed with the Red Shirt Protestors. Independent investigations and witnesses ensured there are military trained and heavily armed men within the Red Shirt Protestors. This caused casualties of both civilians and military officials. See

(Breach of item 1 and 4 as listed above). During this event, Red Shirt Protestors attacked a truck carrying wounded soldiers, proven as a breach of international humanitarian law. See http://www.youtube.c...?v=LXMmQReCKVg. Later that night, the Red Shirt protestors raided Hua Chiew Hospital and Wachira Hospital in Bangkok attempting to take corpses of Red Shirt Protestors for political rally without relatives permission, an action which also obstructed legal investigations of the case.......

Maybe Weng made these ICC comments because:

1. Distract attention from the budget debate

2. Keep the Reds warm in case they are needed on short notice

3. Part of their propaganda: Who killed their peaceful protestors

BTW have you noticed that:

1. This government is NOT interested to find out who killed their officials.

2. The UDD/PT leaders have NEVER blamed the so called Men In Black for any of the killings. They only blame the army.

As a UDD leader, don't you think he is able to speak for more than just himself?

69048.jpg

Fellow Red Shirt Leader and current Pheu Thai Party MP Payap (same titles as Weng), who led the Red Shirt raid on Chulalongkorn Hospital and never apologized speaks volumes for the so-called "movement." ermm.gif

.

OMG, Payap is an MP?! .. So that's his reward? Immunity? UNBELIEVABLE!

The poster before you would seem to imply that it is not enough for the UDD to issue an apology for the hospital incident as was done, but that other UDD members need to apologize or else it some how doesn't "count".

I don't think anyone is expecting all Red Shirts to apologize for it, more like it'd be nice to hear some remorse from the Red Shirt Leader that directly led the raid.

In lieu of that, some condemnation of his actions by other Red Shirt Leaders would be good, but even better if they sought some credibility would be for his removal from the Red Shirts.

None of that occurred. Instead, what did occur was the opposite and he was rewarded with a seat in Parliament and the immunity that comes with it.

The above postings are good and needed. Regular folks so quickly (or conveniently) forget the dire things that happened in downtown Bkk (and elsewhere in Thailand) during Spring 2010. There were a slew of illegal things done during those long weeks, any one of which would have landed a regular person in jail. Farang get busted and fined Bt.2,000 if they drop an imaginary cigg butt on a Bkk sidewalk, but a mob of rowdies can come to Bkk and fire off grenades, strorm a hospital and a gas station, erect petrol soaked barricades, shoot Thai military officers, ..........and it's all a big Mai Pen Rai for the PT and Red Shirt spokespeople. It's beyond 'double standard' (words which H.M. The King used, when lamenting the dangers for Thailand, in a speech awhile back). It's downright disgusting - the filth and destruction the Reds crapped on Bkk, and now trying to tar others with.

As several cogent contributors have already pointed, a country cannot cherry pick ICC prosecutions on demand. One either accepts the jurisdiction of the ICC or one doesn't. And once has become a signatory, anyone is fair game, including heads of state past or present , generals, and all the other usual suspects - as President Bashir of Sudan and former President Taylor of Liberia have recently discovered.

This is why, incidentally , the United States has refused to become a signatory.

Is Thailand a signatory to the ICC?

Is Thailand a signatory to the ICC?

No

Is Thailand a signatory to the ICC?

Thailand is one of 32 states that have signed the ICC agreement BUT not ratified the treaty.

Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties[/url], a state that has signed but not ratified a treaty is obliged to refrain from "acts which would defeat the object and purpose" of the treaty, however, these obligations do not continue if the state makes clear that it does not intend to become a party to the treaty.[19] As such, three states which have unsigned the Rome Statute (Israel, Sudan, and the United States of America) and have indicated that they no longer intend to become states parties, have no legal obligations arising from their signature of the Statute.]

Two of the three countries that refuse to become state parties are interesting!

also

Thailand

Former Senator Kraisak Choonhavan called in November 2006 for Thailand to ratify the Rome Statute and to accept retrospective jurisdiction, so that former premier Thaksin Shinawatra could be investigated for crimes against humanity connected to 2,500 alleged extrajudicial killings carried out in 2003 against suspected drug dealers.[25]
