I am currently based in Bangkok, and will be for the next two years. I am planning to buy an expensive Apple Mac in the next couple of weeks , which will need to be shipped as it's huge and very heavy. I avoided shipping any IT gear from the UK to Thailand as I know you can get clobbered for import duty - if the machine is two years old, would the same double-taxing apply when going back to the UK?

I seem to remember reading that UK customs are much less tax-heavy than Thai customs, and will not tax you when something is clearly used - is this the case please? If not I will have to rethink my purchase!!

Thanks - hope this makes sense!
