Today, one of our young patients from the Children's Medical Fund will be going for a major heart surgery. Born with a congenital heart defect, our patient only has one chamber in his heart. A normal human heart has four chambers. For the surgery, at least six bags of blood will be needed. This young patient of seven years old will be the first of five other young patients in our Children's Medical Fund programme, who will be going through the surgery. The remaining five patients a

re waiting to be scheduled for the surgery.

Unfortunately, now being the rainy season in Chiang Mai, the blood bank is running low on their supplies. With the outbreak of the hemorrhagic fever (commonly known as dengue fever), the supplies in the blood bank is heavily strained.
