Stolen Motorbike In Chiang Mai

Featured Replies

The tourist police station is now a little bit further than the zoo,up hill to Doi suthep temple on the right site of the road.

Ah, my bad- I didn't know they had moved.

Good to know, and very convenient for me- I live right up the street...smile.png

As an interesting aside, when I mentioned this situation to the gf the first thing she asked was "was it a black one?" - which from the OP's post it appears to be.

According to her this choice of colour is the most appealing to thieves.

parked in a no parking zone...

incidentally, a super cheap black 150 pops up in the classifieds today: http://classifieds.t...150-186012.html

Ah, well everyone is having fun at the poor kid's misfortune.

How many of us have parked in a quote unquote no parking zone- probably all of us at one time or another.

There is little to no traffic parking enforcement in this town.

Used to be, they would put the "boot" on your vehicle, you would show up and find your vehicle immobile.

Phone call to the paper ticket attached to the vehicle, and eventually Officer Somchai would show up, unlock you, and you would pay the fine.

I've never seen a tow truck hauling away an illegally parked vehicle- not to say that doesn't happen, I've just never seen it happen myself.

Now, some bright bulb in the local gendarmeries has outfitted a Super Tuk-tuk, with sirens and loudspeakers that would wake the dead, and has an officer roving about, lighting up his siren constantly, and offering a constant commentary over the ridiculously loud loudspeaker.

Sometimes this tuk-tuk parks for extended times in front of KSK. I go to the Orchid next door for gym and pool.

I'm relaxing at the pool, reading the Bangkok Post- and all of a sudden it sounds like 4 cop cars are in high speed pursuit of a dangerous felon who has just robbed a bank. Then Officer Somchai gets on the loudspeaker (what is it with Thai people, and a microphone?) and starts barking instructions to motorists who look like they are maybe going to park illegally...to not park illegally.

Instead of citing the offenders, and having them towed- everyone is subjected to this over the top noise pollution, sometimes for hours at a time.

OK, rant over.

The bike on the Thai Visa classifieds samsara posted above is an old model CBR150, has nothing to do with the OP's friend's stolen bike, which is the new model. Apples and oranges.

Just want to ask if you locked it? The guy I rent from is insistent "lock everytime"!

I think if the y want it bad enough most locks won't help.

Possibly in the future get a GPS tracking devise and put it on the bike? Obv. that can't help the problem at hand, but it's something that could give you piece of mind in the future.

I use a xena disc lock alarm. Kwaka shop in CM sells them.

A bit like locking the stable door after the horse has bolted in this case though...

Did the OP have his friends permission to use the bike. That's the elephant in the room.

I saw that Dave2 was the last poster on this thread, so I came in for a look.

There is a photo, but I'm disappointed to see it's not a photo of the stolen CBR.

Having observed Dave's work for some time, I expected he'd have the goods! clap2.gif
