Is There a JP Morgan Chase Bank or a Chase Bank in Chiang Mai?

If not, does anyone know if a Thai Bank here such as Kasikorn, Krung Thai or SCB may have drect ties with Chase Bank.

Thank you

You can ask information at Bangkok bank, they have connection with JP Morgen about transfer money for stock trading, I do not know if they have connection for other service or not.

The only US-based banks with branches in Thailand that I am aware of are Citi and Bank of America and both are only in BKK. I just set up a Citi account in the US and will be setting another Citi account with their branch on Asok/Sukhumvit. Transfers between the US and the Thai account can be done electronically, or so I have been told by Citi in the US. And, if the account balance in the US is high enough (at least USD 50,000), wire transfer fees are limited to $10, and if you get a certain Citi MasterCard, foreign transaction fees are limited to 1% on overseas purchases and there is a 15% discount on airfare purchases.

Citi also has a couple of ATM's in BKK as well as numerous ATM's/branches in Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Shanghai, Tokyo, Sydney, Malaysia, Indonesia and perhaps other APAC countries.

I also have a Chase account in the US, and I have never seen a Chase ATM in APAC.

HSBC was a very useful bank for expats in Bkk. No matter that they were not here in CM because their service was, in the main, excellent. Sadly they have closed all their personal accounts (in some cases not telling the account holder in any way that they understood what was happening). The result for me was a total disaster and I spent nearly a whole day trying to move accounts, get people paid and so on. But the sting in the tail was when they send me a form asking why I wanted to close the account? "Because you bl@@dy forced me to!"

even with the same name, you still have to open a local account. it does not work, for example, as another branch of a bank you may have, say, in the USA.

Citibank in Thailand is not a "US-based banks with branches in Thailand" as you say. It is a totally independent system not at all connected in any way with Citibank USA. There is nothing at all connected. Same as in Europe. I've been banking with Citibank (used to be called Citicorp) for more than 30 years and have asked numerous times and been told the same thing every time "not in any way connected". I can make electronic transfers from my Citibank account as you say to some (but not all) countries. Last time I looked Thailand was not one of those countries although this may have changed, I don't know. I have never had reason to transfer from the USA to Thailand, usually the other way around for which I get charged 1200 THB every time.
