Burma and Japan will hold a workshop in the second week of October to discuss plans to launch a small-scale earth survey satellite. The satellite, to be provided by the Japanese government, will be used by Burma for weather forecasting and a variety of other purposes, including communications and forest management, according to a report by the state-run New Light of Myanmar. The workshop was announced following a meeting between Transport Minister Nyan Tun Aung and the managing director of Japan’s Marubeni Aerospace Corporation, Hiroshi Ikuno, in Naypyidaw earlier this week.
