War (especially deaths of civilians) b. Plagues such as the Black Death c. Abuse of alcohol h. Cigarette smoking Hmm .. your sources?? methinks Malaria would be near the top of that list. Just for interest, here are some stats I found - sorry they are bit like apples and oranges... Deaths from: Drink driving (in UK) 600 per year Smoking (in UK) 90,000 per year Malaria (worldwide) 3,000,000 per year Terrorism (worldwide) 2,000 per year UK population is about 60m compared to world population of about 6,200m: so VERY crudely multiply UK figures by 100 for "world figures", which makes smoking more dangerous than malaria, and booze fairly safe. I had no axe to grind in getting these stats, just curious.... - and I DO realise you can't translate UK stats to "world" stats like that, if anyone has better figures please share them.
