hi..

I am a Thai PR since the past 30 years...I got it when I was 5.

I am currently working and living in Singapore and have decided to take up Singapore Citizenship.

I am not sure how this would affect my PR status in Thailand. Would it be revoked?

Alternatively...can I go ahead with the citizenship change and then find a way to transfer the Non Quota Immigrant Visa from my current passport to the new passport...then travel back to Thailand and....try to effect the change in my documents there....such as - Alien Registration Cert., Residence permit, Thabian baan...

Am a little confused on how this needs to be handled....help would be appreciated.

What is your citizenship now? PR is not citizenship so if you are not Thai but change your nationality expect it to be less that smooth. I would seek legal advise as I don't expect many people have traveled that road. But perhaps we will get lucky and have someone who can provide details.

Thx for your time and advice.....I managed to get some info from contacts who do immigration related work It is actually easier than I thought.

Just need to ensure that my old passport when cancelled contains a stamp stating visas/REP are still valid.

Then with the cancelled passpost attached to my new Singapore passport, I can travel back to Thailand and make necessary ammendments on all documents....Palm greasing costs are to be expected.....
