Earliest Day To Extend Non-O?

Featured Replies

Hello

I have a non-O, and have been extending it for 1 year at a time, based on marriage. My current "permitted to stay" is January 3rd 2013.

What is the earliest date, I can go to immigration to apply for another 1-year extension?

Within the final 30 days of your permission to stay.

So it would be early December.

Immigration officier told me exactly what LB said, yesterday. So get a calander out and count back the days. biggrin.png

You can do it anytime within those 30 days but at least a week early just in case you come have to go back for some surprise document they want.

Going early only makes your under consideration period longer because the 30 days starts on the date your extension runs out.

Thank you all for the replies. My wife is due to give birth mid December, thats why I want it done as early as possible.

If you go to immigration with your wife that far along they probably would do it earlier than the normal 30 days.

Good Luck and congratulations.

Does the extension need to be done at the Immigration Office in the province where you reside with your wife i.e. where her tabien baan doc is registered or can it be done at any Immigration Office?

It has to be done where you are living.

If you are living in a house that your wife is shown as head of household then that is where you have to apply. If living elsewhere then proof of address will be needed.
