Hello,

I have a 2 entries non immigrant visa (2 x 90 days) valid until 15 February 2013.

I would like to apply for a retirement visa (I can fulfill all the conditions) during my stay in Thailand.

Two questions are still open :

1. Do I have to apply before February the 15th, or can I do it after (for example during the 90 days I can stay in Thailand if I'll enter the country beginning of February, for the second time) ?

2. Can I use (partially) the 800'000 THB deposit during the 2 months period preceding my application, for my living costs ?

Thanks a lot for your answers.

Regards.

1. You can apply during the last 30 days of any non immigrant entry. Visa validity is not a factor.

2. The money must be at or above 800k during all of the previous two months prior to first application and three months of any applications after. Only if using both bank and Embassy letter of income would it only have to meet the 800k total on the date of application.

I seem to remember that when I applied for the "change in visa status" necessary prior to getting my retirement extension, that a minimum 21 days validity had to remain on my current visa.

This was several years ago so I could be wrong or that requirement may have changed.

You had either a visa exempt entry or a tourist visa when you applied for a change of visa status. The 21 day requirement has more or less been eliminated and is down to about 15 days.

The OP already has a non-immigrant O visa entry that can be extended during the last 30 days of the entry.

That is correct; I changed from a Tourist Visa. I did not notice that the OP already had an "O".
