Why would that be a Surprise ?

Imagine a similar forum in the UK, US or any of our home countries - it wouldn't be noteworthy that girlfriends or Wives are University educated, well read and can converse on many topics... Its only noteworthy on this forum because so many disbelieve it to be possible that some can find, mix with, date and marry such ladies.

The only thing some have achieved is to find similar standards in Thailand to that which they would have found had they remained in the West... Its not special or particularly noteworthy its perfectly normal, but its this normalcy that so many on this forum find hard to grasp and instead pose sarcastic comments as that quoted above.

there are those with an age gap that are in real relationships, but most are being played and will not admit it or dont see it, those ones annoy, thats what i meant. but to the real relationships, happy for them, just dont think there are many however.

The problem is that lots of the sexpats here are trying to be heros saving a poor upcountry girl with a sick dad/ Buffalo from the evil bar owners.

Others got a young wife and think that treating the wife real good and giving her whatever she wants will make her love him.

If a relationship started out of money, most cases it will end with money.

Lot of farangs were killed for insurance or just a few hundred thousand baht.

Others got divorced with the wife, losing both his assets and cash.

True love can only be achieved with COMMUNICATION and if neither if you can understand eachother in atleast one language, the relationship will fall apart. Lust doesnt last forever and if it was about how hung you were, she wouldnt have left you to be with her half sized thai boyfriend, its because they understand love. The same reason I have a decent girl who never slept around with other men before me and knows I'm poor and has nothing but we UNDERSTAND eachother and have fun!

Why would they have little in common?Aside from possible language issues I would say there is no more or less in common than with any other woman.You can kid yourself that women in Thailand are somehow "different"....but its not really true now is it?Apart from the obvious physical advantages many of them enjoy. If you really think this, than you must be a very one dimensional person as far as relationships go, and probably Thai girls work out for you. I am a Western woman and can't find even a common thread to have a simple friendship to have a coffee once a week with a Thai woman ...the only time I had that, really was in the case when I was involved (without my knowing it) in a sort of typical bargirl/ old farang man ...a take advantage of me/rip me off, manipulate me, borrow from me, steal from me, get commission from everything I did, type of relationship ...except she wasn't a bargirl, had never been a b/g, just was experienced working with tourists ...relationship and I eventually realized, besides all of the above, that she was faking all of her friendship, in the sense that she faked agreed with me, faked her Western point of views that she had learned over the years, faked her opinions, faked her morals, faked everything to make herself seem like someone who was like me. I think many of the woman who seem so perfect for many of you men, are doing the same dam_n thing, only you don't know it yet. Maybe you never will know it. Maybe some of you never get deep enough with a woman that it matters so who cares!

Given that the only women "back home" that would go out/ have sex with me at my age look like my granny used to, I think I'll pass on that ( I'm not interested in going out with Thai grannies either ).On second thoughts, they probably wouldn't have sex with me either, as they would probably just be looking for "company" in their old age.

Does the average TV poster defending the age gap relationship actually give a monkey's whether or not the younger woman he grunts and slobbers atop wants him as much sexually as he wants her?I'm not saying an older guy can't be trim and fit - there are quite a few of them at my gym - but given that so many of them are as fat and ropey as hell, I'd say the answer is no.Personally, if I was in the kinda shape that so many Thailand expats are in, I wouldn't dream of subjecting a young woman to the "walrus-in-shorts" smothering I'm sure many posters' partners endure and I most certainly wouldn't be surprised if she was taking a portion off a young, fit bloke all the while she was collecting her monthly stipend.

I think this topic was orignally really about something else and has gotten off topic, into a debate about hookers vs. non-hookers, and older vs. younger men, but I am alway surprised by the amount of time and effort the men spend debating this particular subject ...the younger woman need to cheat if they are with older, out of shape, guys ...or just ugly guys. Maybe I am not a normal woman, but I thought women in general, are not quite so "visual" to put in nicely. Personally, at no age, have I ever felt like a panting dog, no matter how good looking a man is, and I have never felt the need to cheat, based on a better looking guy, over the current person I was with. I'm not saying women never feel the desire to cheat, but I don't think it is a simple as a good body walking by, will make us swoon and fall into it! And I especially think if we are in a relationship the pull needs to be pretty strong and much more complex. I think you guys are really way too far into your own minds when you think about this ...and you really have no idea how women think. Or maybe there are some women who think exactly as you do ...or maybe there is just another reason these woman are acting like this, they are cheating, I think that is for sure, but maybe the reasons are not quite what you attribute them to. And I would like to add, that I have found quite a number of young men, who get scammed beyond belief here, because ( I think) they are so SURE, they are young, good looking, no girl would be with them for money ...and it always seems to be a case of an older b/g with a bit of a younger guy ...like Robblok's story above ...I know many of these stories. At least the older guys seem to have a basic awareness so seem a bit more on guard ...but that is just a general observation ...I am no expert.

However, from all the stories I am not sure about all Thai ladies. What I thought about the OP was that this was about the need of the Thai woman to bad mouth her man. This is something that I have always found unique about Thailand, and that I have never seen elsewhere. I mean, even if a woman is to some extent attracted to a man due to wealth, and improving her life, I think a Western woman would feel ashamed to admit that, and ashamed to be disloyal to him. In other words, it is one thing to marry a man, to be attracted partially to money, but to love him and be a good partner to him is part of the package, and that includes being a loyal wife. People would shun her for if they knew she was cheating on him, if she was going out and talking bad about him, calling him a buffalo, talking about how many ways she screws him out him money, takes advantage, has secret bank accounts, steals, sends money to her boyfriends, etc. NO woman could openly get away with that. They get away with that here because EVERY Thai person is in collusion with them to some extent, even if the only extent is to never mention this to farangs. Or your Thai person tells you "yes I think it is wrong" I am not so sure they think it is wrong, they maybe just say that to us and we believe it, because we want to believe it, because we are with them and don't want it to happen to us. Then we get on this website and usually agree "don't tell the man" or in the case of the guy who got killed recently ...his "friends" his fellow Brits were calling him the "wounded Buffalo"??? That is pathetic. Were did that name originate? Is that a British saying or a Thai saying?

However in Thailand, there is some alarming percentage of girls (I don't knowingly know any hookers and have never been to any go-go places or whatever) but have just met girls already with men, living with them, married, etc, or even some talking about past relationships, and some even Thai/Thai and even Gay ..Thai/Thai ...people who don't hardly know me, and am shocked at how they willing tell me almost as an introduction 1) I am only with this person for money ...I am not sure why? Sometimes followed with stories of what jerks they are, can I help them find a new one. Or stories about how many ways they are stupid and they are screwing them 45 different ways ...a point of pride with the girls it seems. And with past relationships, I thought girls were regretful at first, because they would tell me how GREAT their last farang was, how they bought them EVERYTHING, how EXPENSIVE everything was, and then launch into stories about how they did NOTHING at all for the men, and all the bad things they did. Eventually it became obvious that they were not regretful, but this was a from of bragging in in their opinion. They think I will be impressed by this!

Or I used to go to a swimming pool at a long stay hotel/apartment place where a lot of men who live here 6 months and then leave stay, and they would have their g/fs around, and I would end up around the girls, being the only woman there besides them, and they would start their gossiping, of the same style and it was very uncomfortable for me. Another reason I have no Thai girlfriends. And another shocking look into Thailand for me. I have always been very curious about this aspect of Thai culture. Why do they like to brag about how badly they treat their lovers? You hear all this crap about girls just wanting a better life, financial security, helping their family, yet nice guys come along and offer them this and they ...well they do all sorts of things , bascially they seem bent on total destruction...but why don't they just latch on, be nice wives, be faithful, how hard can it be? I just don't get it!

And then you guys get on here and talk about how horrible we Western women are ..(which really is quite rude) ...we ladies, who worked, supported the household, cleaned the house, did the errands, put you through school, paid half the bills or in some cases more than half, sometimes all the bills, some of us also lost a house in a divorce or our pensions, etc, and we are all not fat whales ...and we were all once 20 years old too. I guess some of you must of had it pretty bad back home, but some of us did too, but staying alone seems better than these options here ...obviously women have worse options here.Anyway, I really don't wish any of these women on any of you. I have enough respect for all of the Western men, enough to feel really bad when I see this. And I do think that it is the nicest people who get taken advantage of the worst ... as some poster was able to point out somewhere above. I really don't understand all the hate towards naive people, or nice people who just don't get it for a while, it is totally understandable.
