Former Deputy PM Wissanu Krea-ngarm dismisses claims of aiding Thaksin and Yingluck in their legal battles.

 

Wissanu Krea-ngarm, Thailand's former Deputy Prime Minister, has put to rest rumours that he may create "legal miracles" to assist Thaksin Shinawatra or Yingluck Shinawatra in their ongoing legal battles. Speaking today, Wissanu said categorically that he is unable to alter the course of justice for either of these high-profile figures.

 

Having been recently asked by Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin to consult on legal matters for the Pheu Thai-led government, Wissanu clarified his position. He emphasised that his role would not extend to intervening in the legal proceedings involving Thaksin, despite his reputation as a key legal advisor to past governments.

 

Thaksin currently faces lese-majeste charges brought by the Office of the Attorney-General (OAG), shortly after his release on parole for a separate case of power abuse.

 

The lese-majeste charge, under Section 112 of the Criminal Code, relates to comments Thaksin made linking the monarchy to the 2006 coup that ousted him.

 

 

 

Wissanu made it clear that he does not possess the capacity to influence this case. Likewise, he remarked that he could not assist Yingluck, who faces a five-year prison sentence for her role in a controversial rice subsidy scheme. Yingluck has been in self-imposed exile since her ousting in the 2014 coup.

 

Responding to criticism that he might employ extraordinary legal tactics to aid past political allies, Wissanu was explicit: "Legal miracles" are not on the cards. He also addressed speculation surrounding Srettha's own legal troubles, after 40 senators moved to impeach the Prime Minister for alleged constitutional breaches.

 

While acknowledging that legal channels exist for Srettha to defend himself, Wissanu expressed uncertainty about the outcome.

 

Wissanu noted that although Srettha had sought his advice, he has not been officially appointed as a prime-ministerial advisor. This formal designation would allow him to give legal opinions during cabinet meetings but is yet to be confirmed.

 

In sum, Wissanu's statements serve to cool speculation about his role in resolving the legal predicaments of two of Thailand's most controversial political figures.

He may not, but somebody sure paved the way for him to return to Thailand, spent a couple of hours in "custody" before being transferred to his luxury hospital bed where he was being treated for life threatening issues.

However he soon recovered due to the expert treatment of Thailands finest Doctors, returning home in a neck brace and arm sling to recuperate during his parole.. which were soon removed to further prove miracles do happen in Thailand.

Since then he's been gallivanting around the country, fine dining with the PM and other politicians, having chats with Hun Sen his best friend from Cambodia and trying to sort out Myanmars problems.. not bad going for a man on parole.

Taksin always seems to get very sick when something happens to him, why hell just yesterday he got covid so he didn't have to go to court,, he got a letter from his doctor so he didn't have to go to prison, hell he's has to go back to court on June 8th what's the bet he's got the clap and another letter from Dr feelgood,, time to lock up his private jet so he can't run back to Dubai.

Right on❗Or to the Olympics this summer, just like in 2008 when he was permitted to flee and promised to return (wink wink)...then a fugitive "on-the-run" for 15 years. The legal "miracles" are strong with this scumball.

Thaksin's fate seems uncertain in the moment .

Thailand is ruled by the thai ' elite ' and nobody else .

May be he stepped on some feet ...? Somebody in a central , high position , may not have liked his ongoing involvement into Thai politics .

A little refrain was on the cards after he left the police hospital , but he ignored that and got himself " head first "

into politics ( and trouble ) . After 15 years of exile he imagined probably that his return to Thailand would be " triumphant " and that all his " old friends " would kiss his feet , and that he would be welcomed by the entire population ... well , some people remember his broken promises , the stolen election , his secret deals that , definitely have not been for the good of the country , but for himself .

Sorry to say , but , at 74 , he begins to show signs of a dementia and a certain detachment from reality .

May be he better goes back to his villa in Dubai again , before he get's real jail time for lese majeste ...

Does anyone really expect this guy to claim otherwise?

Srettha was smart to "lawyer up".

 

I think the powers-that-be are alarmed by Thaksin's free-wheeling shadow PM activities and is hanging this 112 charge over him to get him to scale back those activities.

 

 

Yingluck has the one rice scheme charge/sentence hanging over her head. Most expect that will be reduced to one year by Royal decree, with six months of home confinement. But this won't happen until after the Sixth Cycle celebrations (and Royal Kathin Barge PRocession), assuming Thaksin slows his roll.

 Keep in mind both were charged with specific serious crimes and plenty of clear incriminating evidence was made public. They weren't 'charged' with 'invented' things.

Canonised? For one moment I thought you meant being fired out of a gun. Wishful thinking?

He rose from his remand prison hospital penthouse "death bed" and walks like a man arisen from the dead.  Now there's a Miracle I say!  Hallelujah, praise be Buddha!!!

And no doubt we will see future miracles for the Shinawatra clan as Buddha and the pantheon of gods and deities in the Deva realms will intercede on his behave again as Thaksin walks with the gods of political righteousness, democracy, and freedom (for all Shinawatras).  Hallelujah!

The whole charade must be a real embarrassment to any intelligent Thai person.When I saw him on TV with an arm sling and neck brace in a wheelchair I laughed out loud. All he was missing was an eye patch, I suppose the prop manager is unemployed now. Yingy is on the runway at Heathrow waiting for the nod. A good example of the word (FARCE)

I didn't say anything about the crimes being invented. 

 

My point was, and still is, those behind the charges were even bigger criminals.

House arrest in a luxury mansion must be tough.

Not lethargic. Sensible.

They go to gaol if they protest.

Which option would you take if you were Thai?

Plenty of examples in the last few years.

And that is where Thaksin will end up again.

A lot of the 'crimes' against him and his family are political. Same as section 112.

Same for Pita (and others).

Same for anyone who stands for the Thai people.

You have to be very brave (and wealthy) to take on the really corrupt folk here - the ultra rich and the military.
