Location Of Steps In Chiang Mai

Recommended Posts

I need to find some stairs to climb on a regular basis for exercise after an accident. Does anybody know of a location that is near the city and easily accessible? I can always go up and down and up etc. but the higher, the better.

Thanks!

Doi Suthep????

Yeah that's the obvious one but I'd like to find some place I can use every day without going to the top of the mountain.

Thanks

Can't you make friends with security in a nearby apartment block that has a few floors? Up and down the steps every day.

Yeah, I thought about that and my place is 4 floors but I'd like to do it in the very early morning and just thought me clumping up apartment stairs 30+ minutes in the morning might be annoying for the people that live there.

Thanks.

You don't need a stair case. You need one or two steps, same as the keep fit folk us. smile.png

Yeah, call me old fashioned but I enjoy actually going up something rather than stepping up and down a couple of steps.

I was trying to think of any temples that might have a series of steps up but nothing comes to mind except Doi Suthep.

thanks

Wat Phra Phutthabat Tak Pha is a bit of a drive out past Pasang. But at around 450-460 steps it will definitely bring on the "jelly legs" if you haven't been keeping in tip top condition.

Not exactly convenient I know but a great find if you want to take on a long flight of steps.

Disclaimer: might want to check all the other bits are in good working order before attempting ie the heart etc !

Also the temple at the back of the tourist village up Doi Pui, and Doi Saket temple has a bit of a climb.

In town, I think I am stumped for ideas, the steps up the stands at Changphuek Stadium?

lots of high rises have unsecured stairwells.

My building Hillside 4 has 15 floors of stairs anyone can use.

Learning Hindu squats are really good for knee rehab and stability. Can google "hindu squats" to watch videos etc.

The Centara Duangtawan Hotel has an open stairwell and is 25 floors or so. I hike up it sometimes and then go down the elevator. Other than steps you can always hike up the trail towards Doi Suthep. It starts behind the zoo and you can either go half way and stop at the road or go across and continue all the way to the top and then catch the red truck down.

Kad Suan Kaew has outdoor stairs accessible anytime in the back by the outdoor elevators.

But you have to turn, which may or may not be beneficial

And Wat Doi Kham.

Walked up there recently.. Brutal.

Sent from my HTC One S using Thaivisa Connect App

Second Doi Kam. Beautiful climb through the forest and a good workout. My wife and I would do two time up and down five days a week.

Going up stairs is good exercise, but going down can be hard on the knees. Better to find a tall condo or hotel where you can ride the elevator down.

Depends on where you live.

Many hotels have stair ways that would not bother any one.

The perfect solution if you live close to one. Or maybe a school?

How about buying some step ladders. Then you can exercise wherever you wish. Even while waiting for a visa extension at immigration. Could even be the "new planking" laugh.png

CM Municipal Stadium near Chang Phueak has seats for spectators around the track, you could walk those steps. Guessing 700 Year Stadium does too but haven't been recently.
