Renewing Retirement Before Expire Date

Featured Replies

How long before is it possible to renew retirement visa.

My Visa expired 12th Nov. is it possible to go this week?

Thanks

Usually 30 days, but it's up to the office you use. It has been reported that some, I think Pattaya, have done it up to 60 days before expiration.

Going Friday should be fine.

Believe you are talking about a one year extension of stay from immigration and normal allowance is up to 30 days prior to expiration but Jomtien seems to allow up to two months early (and a few may want it to be less than 30 days). So I would wait until next week anyplace other than Jomtien. However if you have travel tickets most will allow a little early.

Upon renewal, do you have to pay the American Embassy

ANOTHER $50 to notarize your letter of income or can you

use the same one you used last year?

The letter of income of last year you can not use anymore,

Validity 3 months (anyhow in Khonkaen)

I have my letter of income from the Dutch Embassy, what I can do by EMS (cost 1300 Baht)

I have always my account book with me but they never ask for it

Chiang Mai wants consulate/embassy letters to be less than one month old.

And in any case immigration keeps the original. So even if doing a conversion and extension within 60 days two will be needed.

This morning I been to immigration Khonkaen , 1 month and 1 day before my expire date of the retirement visa.

The did a great job in 15 min they renew my visa (retirement+ 90 days) and the 90 days of my son.

no questions ( my embassy letter was 2 1/2 month old)

Hmmmm. Nancy's info on one-month validity at CM isn't too devastating for those Yanks in CM -- since there's a US consulate there to preclude making two trips to Bangkok.

But, we had an example a few months back for someone in Korat, who got two income letters at the same time during a single trip to Bangkok. The first letter used for conversion, then the second used 60 days later for the extension.

If CM criteria is now being used in Korat, and elsewhere, two trips would now seemingly be required, since same-day conversion and extension appear to be rare, with the 60-day wait period appearing to be the norm.
