After a 5 month delay ( due to war etc ) I will finaly be flying to the UK on 28th July to help with my ailing 93 year old mother. I will be staying there 10 weeks. While there I will be getting a new UK passport. I understand that if I get a re entry visa in my old passport , all I have to do on my return is present both passports to the immigration officer at the airport to gain entry. After that , once I get to my home province , take both passports to my local immigration and get my old Non O visa transfered to my new passport. However , I was considering starting over and getting a new Non O evisa from the Thai embassy in London. I understand that you need to apply online for an evisa which I assume is not printed in your new passport but sent to you as a PDF file ??? The fly in the ointment is the proof of 400,000 in the Bangkok bank which will require an up to date statement. The Bangkok bank app can apparently provide this but the app does not seem reliable. Alternatively , AI informs me that I can enter Thailand on a tourist visa , convert this to a Non O in country using form TM86 then aply for an extenion as per normal with the usual paperwork So ....my question is.....which is the simplest option least likely to go wrong. I am leaning towards just getting a re entry visa but was wondering if others had found the other ways easier.
