I think that's the one I heard from the vendor ... "Pbawk mai?" Meaning: "Shall I peel it open?", ready to drink the water. It sounds a lot like ปลอก plawk (the fibre casing), as you claim ... but shouldn't that be เปลือก (husk) bpleuuak, or is plawk unique to coconuts?

May I correct this word? It's called "กาบมะพร้าว...kab ma phrao" and I've never heard the word "ปลอกมะพร้าว" before.

I'm not Thai, so this is just an educated guess, but ปลอกมะพร้าว sounds like an error some Thais could possibly make when saying or writing this sentence. (Since a lot of times people don't pronounce the ล or ร in a consonant cluster like ปล, ปร, กล, etc., some Thais will over-correct and add an ล or ร into words that don't actually have them.)

การปอก - peeling.

เปลือกแอปเปิ้ล - apple peel.

ปอกเปลือกแอปเปิ้ล - peel an apple.
