Exchange Lao Kip To Thai Baht In Chiang Mai

Featured Replies

Hi all.

Have some Lao Kip burning a hole in my pocket. Really have no need for LAK and wanting to exchange. Tried Super Rich Money and SCB. Both smiled and said no. Any where in Chiang Mai where I can exchange LAK to TBH.

Thanks.

No one will take it. Just drop it into one of the charitable cause boxes at Wat Phra Singh or the next one over. They will be appreciative of it.

You might find a backpacker around town who is heading to Laos who will buy it. Or perhaps one of the Laos tour agencies might buy Kip.

Then drop the proceeds in a charity box

There's an exchange rate of appx 26,000 Kip to 100 Baht http://www.forexticket.co.uk/en/currency/converter-THB-LAK

As suggested above, offer it to someone at a better rate, say 35,000 for 100 baht

I presume you are looking to change a few hundred thousand?

You could try the exchange down on Chang Klan, nearish to the Thapae Road end. Not sure if they'll take it... good luck!

There is an exchange shop sort of across the road from Paradise Pizza. They will definitely exchange it. I just exchanged some there last week.

i'll exchange it with you , how much do you have and what rate are you offering ?

One of the banks at the airport will exchange Lao kip for Thai baht. Bring along your passport.

The Olde Bell on Loi Kroh Rd accept Lao Kip in return for food and drink vouchers.

I heard from a friend just back from Laos that he changed a considerable amount of Kip into Baht at the moneychanger near the Thapae Gate. He's a reliable source with no reason to exaggerate.

OP (and others). They are more than willing to take your Baht in Laos. No need to change to Kip.

Partly so that they can make a profit on the exchange rate

Not sure, but you'll spare yourself the hassles of exchanging the rest of your Kip to Baht. So you'll save the profit the money exchangers will take from you twice. wink.png
