whistling.gif Back around 1977 or so, when I came to Thailand for the first time, there was a famous "Wizard" who claimed his Buddhist Amulets would stop bullets.

He arranged a demonstration to prove it. and let it be filmed.

Some chickens were tied to a stake, and his amulets placed around their necks.

Shotguns were then fired at the chickens.

Chicken guts and pieces flew everywhere.

It was all caught on film.

Jatuporn has a collection of these highly valuable priced amulets that protect him from all sorts of dangers. Rumour has it that he is prepared to pay a million baht for one guaranteed to stop people thinking he is an idiot.

there are things real, make believe, and non existent. I would suggest that this falls into the latter.

I would love to hear what exactly have they held him for?

My mother-in-law had a car accident at the entrance to a temple after going to visit a very revered monk for a "blessing" of a type. It was rationalised away that if she hadn't had the blessing, the accident would definitely have been a lot worse.

Every single amulet seller in the country could be held for something similar, and as for breast enlargement creams on nighttime television, well.....

Reckon at close range the shotgun pellets wouldn't have done the amulets much good either.

Was told to go get the new motorbike blest by some monk at the temple.so of we went to see the monk .

Cost 200 bht .for 5 min of his bullsh*t.These conman are making good money.

He starts mumbeling stuff, splashing water and drawing chalk on the brand new bike.

Okey its not such a big deal , but then he sits down and starts smoking a sigaret.

Your body is your temple .so don't smoke.Because you are poisoning your temple.

And budha does not seek wealth thru con's.

And bullet proof tat's are con's.wai.gif

Well at least this type of magic has a slightly higher level of sophistication than what rebels in Congo did at the begin of this century sick.gif

You Dutch should never have left Congo.

That was the Belgians. (Probable winners of the Nastiest Colonial Regime Ever award.)

The age old Tattooist cult believed getting the proper markings protected them against Siam's enemies. The battlefields were littered with the headless corpses of these 'believers'. The ongoing belief in 'Dr Future', 'Numerology', Buddhist blessings for prosperity and warding off evil spirits is obviously still open to scammers. So what else is new in Thailand? It's endemic and pathologically embedded in Thai psyche for centuries. And the scams continue.

And not just Thailand - superstition abounds throughout all of the Orient, Asia, Africa...about half the world or more ? When the Honda Jazz arrived, its number finished with '888' - 'OH, lucky number they all cry'... <deleted>. My religion : Science, the most wonderful mindset the human race ever climbed up to from the swamp of fear, superstition, and the evil tyranny of 'wizards', 'shamans' and 'witches' of every kind.

It's a Thai culture thing. I have a few myself and could never understand that if these tattoo's could stop bullets and knives, why do the mosquito's get through? smile.png

There was a famous Ruby that when worn in battle by the prince in his turban, no blood shall be shed. Worked for a many battles, stone turned out to be a Pyrope Garnet though and was brought out of duty. Maybe just the faith of the fabled, power the fate?

The Congo was never a colony per se. It was the personal property of the Belgian King, Leopold II. He governed the country with the utmost brutality.

You are of course absolutely correct and I, both as someone who was aware of that and is a pedant, should not have made that offhand remark.

To gain invincibility from mosquitoes you need to have a fairy tattooed on your left butt cheek with sharpened slivers of bamboo.

creams, how stupid is that, right? It's simple toilet paper/tissue, used minimum once a day, that is growing body parts.

In the west, many ladies proving it for ages, already. look at their backs!

I can't believe that people are so closed minded about this issue. So-called science is just another kind of religion, and can't be relied on. What has science ever produced that has ever been of any use, compared to all the things we use everyday that are based on the paranormal??

I am humble enough to know that I do not know everything. How do you know these tattoos cannot protect their wearers against bullets, as well as knives?

I once saw David Copperfield make the entire Statue of Liberty disappear on live TV! Plus Stephen Hawking himself has said maybe there are an infinite number of parallel universes! This alone makes me believe totally in the reality of the power of these tattoos.

Plus I saw a program on SyFy TV once where a load of guys were in a haunted house with special night vision cameras. They were all green! All night they kept yelling "Wow! What the HELL was that?!!!???!"

How can anyone argue with evidence like that, unless you are just a blinkered fool?
