Considering she was chosen for purely reasons of expediency and nepotism, the fact that she is a woman us largely irrelevant.

It's interesting how sexism, racism, ageism, or homophobia can be irrelevant when you're not in that particular demographic.

Feminists will never take over here. They've ruined the west but they can never do the same in other parts of the world because the men will never stand for it.

Yeah...them dam_n feminists! Giving women the right to vote, almost having equal chances and almost getting the same payments at job...payment...jobs...women...what is this madness!

Almost as bad as them pesky civil-rights guys, when they took our slaves away!

Good, that in Thailand a woman still know where her place is: in the kitchen and in the bed, doing their duty!

Certainly "blind Freddy" can see the Thai PM is a sad excuse of a person been put into power through a criminal and is simply doing his bidding. Then to recognise this as some sort of accolade? The New York Times is a gutter rag and is obviously being fed by someone like Robert Armstrong trying to create the spin, Yingluck is on control. But again, Thaksin is paying - absolutely no doubt.

The New York Times (NYT) is an American daily newspaper founded and continuously published in New York City since 1851. The New York Times has won 108 Pulitzer Prizes, more than any other news organization.

You are obviously a very well informed poster.

You didn't use all your ammo. Who is Robert Armstrong? I suspect asiawatcher meant Robert Amsterdam, the spinmeister.

I have traveled over most of the world for a number of years and I have concluded that the relationship between men and women is exactly the same in all countries and cultures. The only thing that differs is the degree to which the men have figured this out. By that measure Thailand is fairly advanced. Even though men predominate at the positions of power, everyone knows that it is the women who are really running the show.

I have traveled to a great many countries as well and noted the identical power imbalance. In some nations, the defence of their surreal and total dominance over men is represented by men asserting they are the "luckiest guy in the world". This is the slave who works 50-60 hour weeks describing his sheer good fortune to be given the chance to support his master, who might very well be marinading the master of the house in emotion, getting him ready for the next round of the game.

Anyone who is confused about the role of women should sit down for I am about to tell you something that will blow you away.

Are you ready?

Women don't hate sex. In fact, they like sex more than men. I understand you have been led to believe otherwise, by women; and men who were led to believe otherwise. If you were starved of food, you might imagine those who could take it or leave it didn't care to eat. But you'd be wrong. And you might want to consider whether they perceive their interests might be served by starving you.

Women have been the driving force against prostitution for a very long time now. They hate them with a passion that isn't commensurate with their justification for why they care so strongly about what another girl is doing. If you watch them closely, you'll note a sense of...betrayal? Fury? Vindictive outrage? It's almost as if they imagine the sex worker has wronged them, in some way. But she has merely refused to join the Firm. Prostitutes are akin to 'scabs' who cross picket lines because they don't care about organised labour; they make their own way in the world. The fury directed at 'scabs' by union workers bears a striking resemblance to the fury directed at prostitutes by girls who would have you give them a little more proof of your victimisation before they [do what they want to do], in exchange.

Somewhere around ~50 AD, an agent of the Firm attempted to incite a crowd of frenzied self-righteous men to kill an innocent girl. She was a cut-price operator. The Firm has never stood for such a dangerous threat. It could blow their entire illusion to shreds, send a 2000-year marketing campaign down the drain. One of their best agents was dispatched to handle the affair but as it turned out, the men declined to take the bait on that occasion. No one wanted to be the first to kill an innocent girl that day. Now, it is a matter of record that the Firm's agent - frustrated at having lost face and failed to complete his mission - turned on the girl in a rage before thinking better of it. He let her off with a warning instead, and you can spin it all you like, but this is what he said to her.

"Go, and [compete] no more."

Has anyone noticed women like to take the ancient role and get a nice sinsod for mum but then enjoy playing with their phone instead of fulfilling their side of the deal and sweeping the floor, washing the bathroom etc.

Obviously I speak about one. Is she unique?

I have to pay yet I still have to do!

Hire a very good looking live-in maid and see what'll happen. rolleyes.gif

Women as "Political Sock Puppets" - I guess that is a new role...

Not really, every president, prime minister male or female of any country is like a puppet that have their advisors and told what to say. Running a country is far to bigger job for just 1 person to make all the decisions.

Women as "Political Sock Puppets" - I guess that is a new role...

No, not new at all, the NYT wrote, "fits into an Asian tradition of the wives, sisters or daughters of powerful men becoming political leaders after the men are forced from office, assassinated or die of natural causes, as has also happened in Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Pakistan, the Philippines and Sri Lanka."

What would be new is you actually reading a news article.biggrin.png

Add Australia to the list. Caucus dumping the male Prime Minister for a female PM just before the election due to polls reporting the party will lose the next election with the current male PM. Maybe they were looking for the female vote. After the very close election and buying votes from the Independents, Australia had their first voted female PM (Caucus puppet).

Several recent studies have shown that Thailand has the highest percentage of female managers, CEOs & business owners. Here is one recent graph:

And here's one showing the percentage of women on Company Boards:

I didn't read the full article quoted in the OP. Did they mention that the US & UK have about considerably lower percentages of women managers, CEOs & business owners than Thailand?

opened my eyes,...i had no idea .

The NYT is the best newspaper in the US and one of the best in the world. Sorry but that is the opinion of almost everyone who can read in the Western world. People from (your country) may not agree.
