Countries That Require Onward Travel Ticket?

Featured Replies

I'm planning to do a bit of traveling and was wondering if anyone had a list of countries that do/don't require a ticket for onward travel when arriving in the country. I want my travelling to as flexible as possible, so want to avoid having to buy flight tickets that I don't use. I'm planning on travelling around Asia and Europe. I'm from UK and my GF is Thai.

Also, does anyone have any experience of getting visas outside of Thailand? Many countries only allow you to apply for a visa while in your home country and only allow you to apply within 3 months for travelling there. So if we wanted to go to Schengen for 3 months, UK for 3 months and another Euro country (outside Schengen) for 3 months, we'd need 3 visas but for the last one would have the expense of travelling back to Thailand if we had to apply from here.

As a UK citizen, can I land in Thailand without an onward travel ticket. I am currently on extended stay of Non-Imm O visa, but may have to let this lapse if I travel for a year or so. So I might be arriving back on a visa on arrival basis, or whatever it's called.

Travel is fun, but all this visa hassle is making planning it a bit of a nightmare.

Unless you have a long stay visa for Thailand you are required to have an onward ticket otherwise the carrier who flies you into Thailand may not let you board.

You can use this web tool to verify the visa rules & onward travel requirements, it is accurate and up to date it is what airlines use to verify your documents when you check in.

Excellent. That will definitely come in handy.

Just to clarify .... If you have any type of visa to enter Thailand you can do so on a one way ticket.

The "permission to stay"stamp some nationalities can receive upon arrival is not a visa.

Need onward ticket if you visit Philippines or Austrailia, they won't let you on the airplane without, seen lots of people trying to get on plane to philippines with one way, send them to ticket desk to buy a ticket out.

Cambodia can get visa at border, but easier to get evisa on line,
