Is A 1 Month Rent Contract Enough Fo Renewing 1 Year Retirement Vise

Featured Replies

I am currently on a 1 year retirement visa. I have been out of the country for the last 2 months and gave up my apartment prior to leaving. I will return soon on the same visa but am not really sure where I want to stay in Thailand. I was thinking about traveling around and staying a month in a few different areas before settling down and paying a 1 year lease. I was living in Pattaya before and found that renewing my year visa was not too difficult. Thus, I was thinking about renewing again in Pattaya. Basically my questions is: can I renew my 1 year visa with only a month contract for my living place ( lets say a hotel) ?

Also, If I do my visa in Pattaya, can I then move it to , lets say Korat and sign in at the local visa office on my 90 day report in ?

Thanks for any help

That should be possible, although nothing is 100% sure. But if asked about that with your explanation you should be OK.

When moving reporting elsewhere is hwat you should do, but they will probably require proof you now live in the new area and thus are reporting there.

Thanks for your input. I am nervous about ever asking a question while in the process of doing something in Thailand as it might open up a can of worms ( more problems).

Wait for them to ask the questions (if any) and then explain.

That's one way for sure...hahaha. and maybe the way I will have to proceed.

Is it written anywhere that you require a year lease ? I am thinking about renting a cheap place in Pattaya and using it as a base to store some of my things and then traveling around until I find where I want to stay for long term.

A year lease is nowhere written and some meebrs do it the same as you, have temporary base before they decide where to live permanently in Thailand.

I live in CM and my apartment gives me a letter stateing i am a resident for one month as I pay monthly no problems yet, excepted at immigration for drivers licenses and buying vehicle

I obtained my retirement extention 2 months ago at Bangkok immigration. I live with my g/f and no questions were asked at all about any proof of where I live.

only thing i can kick in is u must do ur 90 day report where ur extension is issued from>

seems crazy if ur up in Chaing mai and its due you have to head down to phuket or just get a re-entry permit an leave the country an start the 90 day over.

BUT i guess as Mario says if u do move elsewhere they will ask for proof ur living there before they will allow u to do ur 90 day report there.

As u only write on the application where u live and they have never asked for proof......
