I want to go south to beach and was thinking of Krabi or Phuket.I'm not looking for wild night life but I might fool around a little.I drink very little and I like staying in guest houses.Been living in Surin and looking for a little down time before I go back to the States.Possible go to islands for kayaking,diving,etc.,are the national parks open now?

Krabi Town is pretty cheap for guest houses...easily find something for 300-400 Baht.

Koh Jum is worth a look for a day trip...or Railay.

Yes, np's are open. Im not aware of any that have kayak "rentals". A few have a kayak that might be rented. Krabi outside of PP will always be less than Phuket. Im not big on Jum at all. Diving...good luck.

Ao Nang ( about 20 minutes away) operators rent kayaks individually and have organized tours. There is one trip that you go into a National Park and paddle through the karst formations and mangroves. Krabi has some of the best Thai sea food and is quiet cheap as they cater more to locals than farangs.
