I do use Google translator, but find that Thai friends tell me that the translations are sometimes wrong. Could you advise me on an excellant English to Thai voice translator that will not teach me a phrase that is an insult to a Thai.

I use ww.thai-language.com

I think I have tried that, but it did not have voice. I will check again. Thank you.

is ok, if you translate from thai to english,

but remember,

if you translate

- its raining cats and dogs -

to thai, you know the result. biggrin.png

its the same story, the other way,

so without some knowledge of thai,

you think English, and you translate an english sentence into thai words,

but you have to think thai, if you want, that your thai partner get the message 100%.

Great way to describe it, and teach a lesson. Thank you.

There is no good translator online, just because all these online translation tools are not good enough, they can translate you separate words, but if you need to translate text, it is better to use professional service like this one- Vertimo paslaugos Vilniuje , just because they give you low price for high quality! Try!

I have to agree with you on this one.

There are no 100% accurate machine translators online and that pertains to all languages, not only Thai to English and vice versa.

The present technology hasn`t perfected it yet and is something that has not been able to replace a human translation service. Perhaps in another 10 years, but in the meantime our Lukasas75 has given the best recommendation.

One thing I've learnt over the years, never use a machine to translate into a language you don't read, you cannot check the results. Send a mail in English, then, when it goes belly up the recipient has the original English text for an alternative method.

I use ETSD_9x.

English-Thai Software Dictionary

You can find it on google.

Good for translating and hearing pronunciation of words, but not phrases.

There are also words it does not have, but it has been a big help to me.
