Pattaya: Illegal gambling machines confiscated by Police during midnight operation

At just after midnight on Friday morning Pattaya Police visited a showbar on Pattaya’s second road and found that reports they had received of illegal gambling machines were correct. Prior to the visit, the Police station had received complaints and plain clothes officers had paid visits to check out reports of Slot machines in a room adjacent to the club

As is often the case, everyone denied any knowledge of the machines and no one came forward to claim ownership. The Pattaya Police team established that they were set up to pay out, on occasion, and as such broke the laws of Thailand which prohibit Gambling

Illegal Slot Machines seized in Central Pattaya

PATTAYA:--Five slot machines which pay out money to those that win were seized by Police from a small area behind a Cabaret Show located on Pattaya Second Road early on Friday Morning.

In Thailand, the use of slot machines is not permitted and contravenes Thailand’s strict gambling legislation.

The owner of the Cabaret Show claimed she rented out the space and was not aware of the slot machines and she also did not know the name of the person the area was rented to.

A Police informant tipped-off Police of the presence of the machines but before officers arrived, the apparent owner of the machines fled.

So, if they had been set to never pay out, that would be fine.

no, it would have been A fine :)

actually, you raise an interesting point. if they were rigged as often is the case, never to pay out, then they would be gambling machines. so (I Guess) you would be right

Looks like the ones in Japanese pachinko parlours. Most likely the machines are not made in Thailand. How could they get past customs?
