Internet By Phone ?

Featured Replies

I am trying to use a net sim with a phone to use with a laptop.

Some people recommended me to use an air card that it will speed up, as it is a modem through a USB making the connection.

But the speed is really slow, even in the cities as I am in Hat Yai.

I sometimes live in several places, and some parts have no signal at all when using the modem.

If anyone could recommend, and mention some experience, I will very much appreciate your feedback.

So you have the connection working but it is just slow?

There are a lot of variables here I could think of off the top of my head. The service provider could most likely be either True, DTAC, AIS ? They offer 3G speeds on different frequencies so the modem hardware has to be compatible to get maximum speeds - some of newer smart phones handle all the spectrum. The service provider data plans may have used up allowable 3G speeds and knocked you back to slow - unlimited. The signal in the area you are may just suck? Take your pick.

I have an i9300 S3 and tether it to my computer with the USB cable. My connection this way is faster than with my air card. this is compared by swapping the SIM card between the devices. YMMV.

Moved to mobile internet section.

Can you share any details? Phone: make/model? SIM: service provider, plan?

You should/may be able to tether your phone to your PC via USB or bluetooth, and use it as a modem; or use it to create a Mobile AP - essentially a WiFi hotspot.

You can get a USB modem for as little as 1,200 baht if your phone is not capable of supporting your service provider's service.
