I'm getting interested in a Pajero. 2.5 2wd. I see the 2013 models are available with a few decent updates, now the same as the top v6.

I had a chat with the dealers, they are offering a pretty good deal on trading in my 2 cars to buy one.

I read that in 2014, there will be a totally new model available and I am wondering if it will be worth waiting until then. Plus the fact there is the new Everest due to be released which may be better. I have one car on the market already and could live with the other for a year if it is worth it.

Thoughts?

I am currently driving a Pajero Sport 2012 and I've seen the changes to the 2013 model.

Imho, if you really don't need a new car now, please wait until the major model change in 2014.

Our company has been bidding for the translation of the new model Pajero Sport and it has been set to arrive in 2014.

Once I get the owner's manual in my hands, I can give you more information about what will change compared to the 2012, 2013 models.

Thanks Joe, much appriciated. I do feel it would be better to wait until 2014 for the new model. I am interested if it is a major change and better specced than this years model or just a new nose or something relatively minor.

Also I am interested in the new Everest but I spoke the the sales lady and she said you won't see it until Dec 2013. That might just be the time when orders are taken and then have a long wait for delivery. Same for the Toyota IMV 2 - 2014.

I think the 2014 Pajero will be out in January same as every year. By then there should be at least some news on the Everest as well.

I have been offered a reasonable amount as a trade in on the 2 cars I have (2005 Vigo, 2011 Fiesta) so I am tempted to jump into the 2013 model. It offers pretty much everything I want in a SUV except more airbags and possibly more electronics. I could live with one of the cars I have for another year though.

I am wondering what kind of trade in I may get in 12 months and if the new model will be more expensive.

You know what it's like though, as soon as you start looking at a new car you want one.

My pleasure Bung.

I was in the exact same position when I ordered the my 2012 Pajero Sport. I already knew of the 2013 model coming out with the motorshow, but I still went with the 2013 model.

I changed:

1. Alpine system to an aftermarket Alpine system with all the bells and whistles

2. Added steering wheel control

3. Added rear-view camera (included with my aftermarket system)

I am not sure what you will get from your 2 cars in 12 months, but if I was in your position I would seriously wait a bit longer to see what other brands will do or research a bit more.

I bought my PJS and intend to use it for at least 5 years. If you also intend to use it for a long time, then you should better wait for a newer model no? Otherwise you will be THAT guy with the 2013 model whilst everyone is driving the 2014 model :)

Really? I think that is when we will see the new Everest and Fortuners also...I was hoping Jan 2014

Man. I don't think I want to wait 2 more years.....It's a tough call. If the 2014 Pajero is released Jan 2014 I could probably wait but Aug/Nov 2014 with delivery times on top, I doubt I would see it before xmas (it seems Mitsubishi is better at delivery times though).

Do you think you will see price increases with these 2014 models? The Pajero is quite good value @1.2 mill. I've been offered 500k each for my cars so for an outlay of another 200K I could be in a new car with full warranty. Also probably get 1 years free insurance and with my 2 cars will be paying close to 40k insurance alone in the next year if I keep them.

I do have the Fiesta on the market, I could live with the Vigo for a while yet although I am considering which one to sell as both have merits in their favour. I'm renovating my house so a pick up is handy but it's a bit spartan. The Fiesta is great around town, parking, fuel economy, modern etc.

Tough decision! You either have to stop looking alltogether & go live in a cave somewhere to forget about buying a new car - or bite the bullet and just go for it! smile.png Man retail therapy.

Did I understand correctly that the New Ford Everest is due 2014?

Well, if you went to a second-hand dealer instead of trading in, you might get more than 500 K as trade-in, and hence might even be able not to spend a baht of yours to buy the PJS.

However, as you already have two cars, I would advise to hang on with them. It is about certain that the PJS will cost more... in 2014. Just enough to look at the price hikes that follow each of the minor changes. But it is likely to be a new model, and hence certainly preferable to having the current one, no matter how nice this one may be.

Just as you mentioned that you are renovating your house, how do you plan to carry the stuff? In the PJS? I fear it is not made for such coarse work.

It's a bit of a bugger buying an SUV now as all those new models are due out in 2014. Toyotas IMV 2, new new Everest, pajero, mu7.... All will be completely new models and worth waiting for but the question is when in 2014?

The pickup may be handy while building, you never know what you may want to carry but once done I feel I have no use for it and an suv such as the pjs will be much better. I see it as combining the best of the vigo and fiesta but not without some compromise.

Well, it's all up to you. If you want the car now, I would say go ahead and buy the 2013 PJS.

If you feel like you can wait, then wait for the 2014 PJS :)

and then by the time the 2014 PJS comes out in late 2014 you can also be sure that some other enticing model will be due for release in 2015, and so on, and so forth. It can be a never ending cycle if you keep waiting for the next model.

As JoeW says, if you really need a car now then go ahead and buy it now, and by late 2014 you will hopefully already have the best part of 2 years of happy motoring. If you don't really need the car now then you can wait, but there will always be another model due to be released.

I concur on that one, choosing a car, a gadget, or any item of technology, at a given point of time implies making compromises if you do not want to spend 30 M THB on a Porsche, Ferrari or Lamborghini.

As you already have two perfectly functional cars, each with their own specialization, I would advise you to stick with them. It would be useless to go to such extent as to buy a compromise between the two. You can use the Fiesta for quiet city running (very apt at that!) and keep the pickup for long runs.

In city, the PJS can be quite expensive to run (at least BKK), so think about your priorities.

Yes, there is always a new model on the horizon but I would be interested if the 2014 PJS is 1 or 2 years away. May have some bearing on my decision.

I think I will wait though. need to compare all the others that will come onto the market. It will be a vehicle I will want to keep for a long time and want the best available.

Spent a long time last night googling....Tranlstions of Thai pages revealed this:

MITSUBISHI MOTORS.

2012 March: "MIRAGE" New Global Small Car SUB-COMPACT B-Segment.

World Premier in Thailand! JOIN with PSA Group / Lancer EX Nano Change /.

Triton CR45 MY2013 Last Minorchange.

2013: All New Triton Full Model Change (Joint Develop with NISSAN!!).

2014: "New Global Small Sedan 1.2 Litre" Based on Mirage.

2015: Pajero Sport Full Model Change / Lancer Full Modelchange / Mirage Hybrid & EV??

After this, the next queue. It will turn change both the new Full Model Change for the SUV.

Top sellers in our generation Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, which was developed under the basic engineering.

With the Mitsubishi Triton and Nissan Navara, the next generation might as well include the Nissan Navara.

Based SUV to me in both the development of the plan as well. The production line. To be in the range.

In late 2014 and early 2015, with the manufacturing base of the plant as it was disclosed.

From another:

After all, everyone knows that Mitsubishi and Nissan abandoned their joint development of a new pickup then. Many suspect that the car they would do their own truck, how? Each person will develop it, right? The answer, as is dating primarily to the real people. (Mainly due to isolate themselves and do not break).

In order to confirm that both were independently developed pickup truck then Osamu Masuki president of Mitsubishi Motor Corporation has announced to the media in Sydney Motorshow 2012 that Mitsubishi is developing a pickup version All New Triton does not rely on the Nissan that. is that the two parties contract to develop a new car together in time.

Mitsubishi is scheduled to launch in 2014, the All New Triton Pajero Sport will be launched later in the year. 2015 The Mitsubishi Pajero is also planning to introduce a new look in 2014 as well, it is known as the Mitsubishi Ekebhamramrib funding to develop its own car, truck and SUV without having to rely on one-ISN02.

Mitsubishi also gave birth to innovate and the latest models. One fifth-generation Mitsubishi Pajero picture that is rumored to be launched in 2015 leaked in cyberspace.

As reported by autoten, Pajero Sport will reduce the appearance of tough on the front for a more modern design.

Unclear specification of the machine diungkapankan, but reportedly carrying the same engine with more power from the engine types currently available.

To me it seems that the new gen Pajero will be announced in 2014 after the Triton and will be the 2015 model year, possibly January? It will use the same engines with increased power. looks not a massive deparure from the current model.

Bung, the link you provided refers to the Mitsubishi Pajero, which a wholly different model from the Pajero Sport. Proof to be found in "the current engines" which are petrol engines instead of diesel as currently.

Ah. You're right. Thanks for pointing that out, I may have got carried away scouring the net for info late into the night....:)

Look all you want, but at this moment in time you won't find any info or spy shots or significant details on the next-gen Pajero Sport, Everest or Fortuner - you will find several photoshop efforts and a number of teenaged speculators with blogs though ;)

Next out of the blocks is the MU-7, followed by the Everest - but no reason to expect that won't be semi vapour-ware like the Ranger...

Then we see the new Pajero Sport in Q3/4 2014, and it's likely that the new Fortuner won't be far behind the next-gen Hilux, so expect it sometime in 2015.

By the time the next-gen Fortuner and Pajero Sport have launched, the MU-7 will likely have had 2 minor changes (one of them likely introducing a twin-turbo engine), and the Everest might have actually been delivered to a few customers :D. By the time the Fortuner launches, the next-gen Pajero Sport will likely get it's first minor change, which in typical Mitsu fashion will introduce a few new compelling features and/or a significant engine upgrade.

All the while, prices are only climbing and climbing...

The point is, there's always a reason to wait. What you need to do is find a reason to buy :)

Reason to buy:

50 th birthday Jan 1st....:)

Thanks for your fact based information. This thread has helped me think things through.

Selling my 2 cars will nearly see me in a new PJS (100-200k on top). In 2 more years they will be worth considerably less as newer gen cars come onto the market and both are current body styles -( ok the vigo has a new nose....)

I don't want to wait 2 years.

Maybe in 5 years I will trade into a hybrid to see me through.

Maybe in 5 years I will be gone.......

Oh the shame...not having the latest model car! The loss of face would be too much for even a farang to bare. People who think like you would never buy a car...it's like buying a computer, at some point you have to just dive in and buy one as there'll always be a better spec'd one 6 months down the road.

Given the regular stream of complaints regarding Mitsubishi service and support both here on this forum and elsewhere I am surprised that anyone would voluntarily buy a Mitsubishi product in LOS.

According to JD Power, the Pajero Sport comes in 3rd for overall customer satisfaction (behind Fortuner and Craptiva) - which puts it in front of CR-V, MU-7, Trailblazer, Vitara, X-Trail, Escape and Everest.

In the pickup categories, the Triton, Hilux and D-Max duke out the first 3 places in most categories, leaving the Ranger, BT-50, Colorado, and Navara to fill the rest of the results.

Cars are like girlfriends - no matter how much you like the one you currently have, it won't be long before a new model catches your eye ;)
