Winter Garden , Anyone Done It? In Chiang Mai?

Our living room looks out on gigantic tree, beautiful, which however makes the room rather dark. Adding some space would also be nice. There are many new houses going up with surprisingly big windows, greenish tinted no longer this depressive brown. It should mean that much more heat/ frostiness insulating glass is available. But I am sceptical, to control the sun ????

I am concerned that adding a winter garden would turn the cool house into an oven, adding excessively to aircon cost. The winters can be rather frosty too. And getting a glass roof water tight against torrential rains, not an easy task , I would think.
