[Help] Please Help To Understand ปลวก

Featured Replies

Hello every one. Please help me to understand following sentence:

กำจัดปลวกไปได้อีกหนึ่งตัว ตัวต่อไประวังไว้ให้ดีล่ะ

In particular I want to understand ปลวก. Here it is definitely not "Ant" or "Termite" as most translators suggest. It has to do something with boyfriend(kik)-girlfriend relationship and money I guess. It is something deeper same KIK.

กำจัดปลวกไปได้อีกหนึ่งตัว ตัวต่อไประวังไว้ให้ดีล่ะ

You can subdue/chase another termite, the next one be careful,- said with emphasis. Is what is says, you need to know the story to know what it means.

You said it is about relationships; done once be careful the second time.

When we call people names pig, dog, worm etc. we refer to the type they are, termites are destructive.

I think it very much depends on the context, because different Thai people have different explanations:

In most examples I found on the internet it is used in a negative context, it's a word you would use to describe someone you don't like or someone you think is ugly.

My Thai acquaintance (she is a girl) told me that Termite is a girl that is looking for a boyfriend but I think that she is not telling all of truth. Any ideas of such meaning?

P.S. guys, thanks for trying to help :)

I didn't see any example were it has this meaning. So, I think this woman just doesn't want to teach you bad words.

I think it's a word similar to แรด.

Thanks for all the help. I will continue my investigation and will write here if I find out something interesting.

I've seen ปลวก used to mean an ugly girl/katoey. A scene in a bar from the movie มึง กู comes to mind. Not sure if it's used to refer to guys though.
