Some WP related questions

1-

I read the WP features an address at which I am allowed to work.

How does that apply if I my job requires me to visit customers at their place of business?

2-

I might have additional functions in different companies.

I know that the WP can be extended to cover the additional positions.

My question is whether the second and third companies will use up their registered capital and thai staff allowance to employ me, if I already hold a work permit from another company? If the other company already has a foreigner working in it and has 2 Mio capital and 4 Thai staff, will it be required to up capital to 4 million and staff to 8 Thais to get me a work permit?

1. That should be part of the job description and probably also mentioned in the place of work.

2. Additional employer must be added to the work permit and for that you need approval of the first employer. You have to comply for the rules for getting a work permit for each job. (Do not confuse them with the rules for getting a permission to stay).

Not sure, but believe the ratio of workers and capital is per foreign worker.

If you get employment with a second company then the rules are the same, so yes an extra 2 Million Capitalisation plus 4 extra thai Employees would be required to employ you.

Please note that you can add a second company to the WP with the full support (and signature/stamp) of your primary employer; but you cannot subsequently remove the primary employer - to do so you would have to cancel the Work Permit and then re-apply with just the second employer.

Also Police Order 777/2551 Case 2.1 (Employment in the Kingdom of Thailand) Extensions of Permission to Stay become even more of a nightmare because you would require full sets of paperwork from both companies to support your application to Immigration

As regards visiting clients outside the office listed in the WP, then this can be noted in the WP description of work.

Branch offices of your company can (and should if you work at them) also be added as working locations.

I guess it will be easier if the first company provides some kind of service to the second company, requiring my occasional presence there.

I will have travel & customer visits explicitly written on the WP.
