Aranyrammie
Friend of mine has his 28 day visa on arrival about to finish, 1st of jan to be exact. He doesn't fly back to UK until 18th jan. if he goes to Cambodia on visa run he gets 14 days so not enough, are there any other options apart from overstay. He is British and is over 50. I will add that we are in aranyaprathet if it helps any. Thanks for reading.
MJCM
Because he is so close to a border, I would advice him to do 2 border Runs. This is easier and cheaper then getting a Tourist Visa. Tell him next time get a Double Entry Tourist Visa.
Aranyrammie
I agree in part about the visa runs but he will be travelling around Thailand after the 1st jan and is reluctant to do a second visa run as he doesn't know where he will be, I suppose one visa run and an overstay of 3 or 4 days is possible. MJCM
Overstay is never a wise thing to do, and especially while traveling as there could be many police checkpoints that want to see his passport. Before his next one runs out he could go to any Immigration office to get a 7 Days extension but will cost him 1900 THB. wayned
If he does a border run on the 1st of Jan, he will get permission to stay until the 15th. If he has a ticket out of Thailand on the 18th, he can go to any immigration office on the 15th and request an extension. It will be denied, but they will give him 7 days to "clear out" which will take him past the 18th with no overstay. Cost of the extension will be 1900 baht and require a completed TM7 form and a passport picture.
Aranyrammie
I think that about covers it then. Do a border run on 1st and then on last day go to whatever immigration is local and apply for extension. Thanks for your advise folks. Cheers, John s.
