Uk Visa For Spouse Of Serving Member Of Hm Forces

Featured Replies

Can anyone assist me with the application for UK Spouse Visa for my wife?

We've been married 5 years and together for 7. We also have a 1 year old son together.

My wife has already had two visitor visa's, which were approved fairly quickly she returned well within the 6 month period each time.

I'm a serving member of HM Forces, for roughly 4 and half years. I've been told this should work in my favour but I've not seen anything to back this claim up.

Does anyone have experience in a similar application? Or have a better understanding of the rules as I can only see benefits to spouses of discharged Gurkhas, such as not having to take a English language test once the serving Gurkha has completed 5 years service.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

The first question would be, what nationality are you ? It does make a difference. If you are British, serving in the forces, then you are treated slightly differently from a foreign or commonwealth citizen ( who might benefit from exemption under Section 8(4) of the Immigration act).

If you are British, then any settlement (spouse) application that you make ( at the moment) will be considered under the pre- 9th July 2012 rules, rather than under the new financial requirements, but this is likey to change in April this year after the review, which is currently be undertaken, is finalised.
