Culture Ministry website hacked by "Bad Piggies"

The Nation

BANGKOK: -- The official website of the Cultural Ministry was still off the air on Wednesday, as police continued to hunt for hackers who tampered with the website yesterday and again today.

The Ministry's permanent secretary Prisana Pongtatpitakkul said the hacking violates the Computer Act and the hacker or hackers could face a jail term of not more than one year or a fine of not over Bt20,000 or both.

On Tuesday, at 5pm, suspected hackers replaced the website mcultural.go.th, with a footballgambling website.

The ministry had it fixed and resumed services. However, at 2am today the hackers, using the name of "The Bad Piggies Team", compromised the security of the website again, forcing the ministry to suspend the site once more.

On this occasion, they replaced the homepage with photos of a controversial TV soap opera, "Nua Mek 2" ("Above the Clouds") and a statement reading "Return My Nua Mek 2.

The drama was abruptly pulled off from Channel 3 last week because it contained what the station called "inappropriate contents", sparking a flurry of protest on social media as the government denied claims it was behind the decision.

Prisana said the ministry had asked the Information, Communications and Technology Ministry and IT experts to prevent the recurrence of the incident and was cooperating with police in order to find the hackers.

Bring back itchy ears too

For it to happen once...well. But twice? 555 useless.

Funny - so the public has spoken about the politicians and vented their anger?

Bad Piggies?

So it could be anyone in the government then!

The disgruntled Culture Minister surely wouldn't arrange to sabotage the website of the ministry he voiced his displeasure with just last week.... would he?

Sonthaya Kunplome was clearly not totally happy when he became Culture Minister after he completed his five-year political ban.

The culture portfolio was not the Cabinet seat Sonthaya wanted

Instead, he sought and is still seeking the post of Tourism and Sports Minister

btw, the site seems to be back to normal....... for now

Hard to feel sorry for anything bad happening to the " Culture Ministry". After all the hoopla they made about the bare breasted girls dancing at Songkran, and then it was pointed out their website had bare breasted girls all over it. Hypocrisy taken to the absolute final level......

So I say...........Go piggies !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Perhaps Chalerm is ranting "I'll huff and I'll puff until I blow your house down" Go Piggies.

Too bad Anonymous doesn't seem to be as active here as they are in the Philippines : P

....or....maybe they really are anonymous and disguising them selves as the bad piggies !!!!

It is outrageous that these 'bad piggies' do something like this, giving their fellow-creatures such a bad name, everyone knows that piggies are really friendly smiling people who pose with their hands trotters held out, awaiting the 'heavenly blessing of the brown-envelope', where anonymous people just give them cash/cars/airline-tickets for free ! rolleyes.gif

Subject to a 20,000 Bht fine ? That would deter the most determined hacker :)

I once went to a police station in Bangkok to report a theft. The cops there were very busy: playing a football computer game, so they are obviously qualified.. laugh.pnglaugh.pnglaugh.png
